I'm new here.....

And just went off the pill. I am trying to figure out what I "need" to do to get pregnant (besides the obvious ) so thought I would give this forum a try, but it's a little overwhelming. Do the ovultation strips really work? I'm 35 and nervous about my fertility. I know being stressed about it is NOT helpful so I am trying to be chill, but it's hard!

Anyways, if you have general advice to share for someone at the very beginning of this journey, I'd welcome it!

Ovulation strips work pretty well. To start, just download a cycle tracking app (like Glow) and track your cycles for a couple months. That will help you have an idea of when your fertile days should be. Then if you still aren't pregnant, get some strips and start testing every morning around your fertile time.

Thank you! This is a whole new world for me. Reading through some of these threads, this sounds like a really supportive and non-judgy board.

I loved using apps to track my fertility—I used both Glow and Ovia. I also found the following free e-book from the American Pregnancy Association to be incredibly informative about the whole trying to conceive process. Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I don't know about that... it talks about timing intercourse for gender selection That sounds like hokum. And regarding the org itself: https://rewire.news/article/2008/08/08/exposed-american-pregnancy-association-hides-links-cpcs/

I know everyone on here loves Taking charge of your fertility, but I found it a waste of money - there wasn't much I hadn't read or heard elsewhere (including this forum).

We found having lots of sex (once or twice a day) worked for us. You say it's "obvious," but it seems many approaches are "Let's try to get pregnant having as little sex as possible."

DH here. Have fun and don't try too hard. Don't make it a chore, either for him to perform or for you to track every data point.

Right? Just have some
Sex because sex is fun. "Scheduled" sex is not fun.

I got an xray on my toes and missed my period a few days now. Could that have been cause of it? I am very worried.

Can getting an X-ray delay your period? No.

My only advice is don't wait too long to get checked and to get help if for some reason you get worried that it's taking too long.
