| We are contemplating transferring our freshman DD from one all girls high school to another. We do have options but am wondering if other people have done the same and how it went. It's a big step but we think its necessary. She's not very happy. |
| I know people in my dd's class who did that from Holton.Worked for some and not others. |
| If she's not happy, move her. |
| Unless you are talking about a Catholic School OP where various Catholic girls schools are harder than others, the elite private girls schools are pretty similar OP. Not sure a change would matter. But if you;re talking moving from Visi to Holy Child that would be a big difference in level of education |
There are good and bad students at all these schools--and accelerated programs as well. |
| Which schools, OP? |
| Much of the time the "unhappy" is not necessarily the fault of the school itself but rather the mix of the kids and the child not finding her "fit." If that's the case, by all means move her. Four years without feeling comfortable is a long time. |

| Going through this process as well, OP. No advice, just hopeful the change will be a positive thing. |
| We are doing the same right now as well. We periodically have a pang of doubt but know that in the end it is for the best. Our DD is very disappointed in the high school school she (and we) selected last year at this time. Her grades are excellent but the overall the experience has made her miserable. Interestingly word has it that a large number are leaving with her, so at least we don't feel as if this is all our imagination. |
Left Holton and went where? |
Visi or NcS.
|
| Meant to add SR and HC as well. |

Hi, we never experienced switching school. My son in in sophomore and he is in the same school since kindergarten. He already has many friends and we like the teaching style.
If you think switching school will be better for your DD, then that would be ok. All high schools are different and she has to get ready for her new environment. I hope things will be alright with your DD. Thank you for sharing. |
| Switching after 9th grade happens more often than you'd think. |
