Is it possible for a night owl to become a morning person?

I have tried to be a morning person, but it's torture for me. I have always been a night owl and stay up creating things late at night. I don't know why I don't feel motivated to create during daylight hours...so it's a good thing I don't have to work until noon most days, because I often don't fall asleeep until 1:30-2. Works out perfect over the summer, but I will have to wake up early again once September comes. I'll have to turn in no later than 1am.

I'm a night owl - I always have been. One thing to look forward to is that when they get to be about 4 years old, they can be somewhat independent. My kids (4 and 5) come into my room to let me know they're up (at about 6:00), then they go into the fridge to get a muffin, then they head downstairs to watch TV while I sleep in for another hour or so. They know not to leave the house, and I keep the door alarm on just in case. I think it helps that there are two of them, so they can play together and watch out for each other.

It's nice to see I'm not alone here. This is one of those things that has always made me feel really guilty as a mother -- that I'm not super-excited to see my kids in the morning and will choose sleeping in over being with them if I have a choice. My mom was the same way when I was a kid. I got myself ready for school every day starting in kindergarten and that was back in the day when 5 year olds also walked to school on their own as well.
