My morning ritual is to make the kids breakfast, make myself a cup of coffee, and check out the APISS calendar for somewhere to schlep my 2 and 1 year old boys:

There list of 100 things to do is pretty good too. If all else fails, I take them to play with the trainset in the kids department at the Barnes & Noble.

Forgot to add that there's also storytime at the library and I hear its great (after a disastrous trip to circle time at Jabberu in the winter I havent been brave enough to try anything like that yet), there's the new Farmer's market thursday evenings 3-7 iirc in Bethesda Lane and a bigger version of it Sundays 9-1 on Elm Street in the parking lot between Woodmount and Wisconson.

There's a free concert every Weds from 6-8pm at Bethesda Row (outside Pain Quotidien). THere are a few others during the week (some daytime) - check out Bethesda.org for times.

The free bus makes a loop around Bethesda. Pick it up outside Barnes and Noble.

Barnes and Noble storytime is Saturdays at 11. I forget the library schedule...

Glen Echo park is amazing (but not downtown Bethesda...). The carousel is open at noon (I think - double-check). The Discovery Center is open on weekends. It's wonderful - animals to touch. An inside "woods" complete with tree house and tunnels to crawl around.

Musikids.

Also there are a bunch of parks in walking distance.

Cabin John isn't walking distance, but it's not far and has a train as well as a nice playground.

Hi - This is Shelley from Jabberu. I'm wondering if the person who had a bad experience at our story time would mind sharing what the problem was. We hate to hear that any customer is disappointed and always look for ways to improve.

You could post your response here or write directly to me - shelley@jabberu.com

Another fun thing is to visit the fire station at Bradley and Wisconsin. In the am they wash the trucks, check the ladders, etc. If they aren't busy, they will let kids sit in the truck and they give out hats.

Oh my no! I'm posting this just in case anyone else got the wrong impression about you all too. The bits of storytime that I got to enjoy were very cool (it was the french one). I had at the time a 18 month old who was incapable of sitting still for more than 2 minutes at a time and a 5 month old in a bjorn who wouldn't. stop. crying. I hold out hope that one day, I can get them to both sit still at the same time, and when I do, we'll be back.
