How many years do you expect a bedroom set to last?

Multiple decades. Like well over 50+ years.

My parents have had theirs since 1970. Still in great condition. They just change out the mattress on their bedstead.

I'd probably sell it and buy something new after 5 years...I like to change things up.

OP - are you talking about just the mattress and box springs or the fixture?

Forever. Have you heard of antiques? Good furniture doesn't wear out.

Several hundred years.
Just bought mine at an estate sale. Vintage cream with hand-painted flowers.

I have my parents' set from the 70s. New mattress and bed frame, but same headboard, armoire, and dresser.

Bedroom sets last for hundreds of years, unless they're some kind of cheap particle board mess. Just replace mattress as needed.

Dh's bedroom "bachelor set" that we had basically fell apart after 10 years. It was inexpensive, and had been moved a lot (dh is military). Moving is hard on furniture. Hoping for a longer life from our current set. It's better made (metal glides instead of plastic, etc) and fingers crossed won't have as many moves.

In my daughter's room I currently have my mom's childhood dresser that has survived over 20 moves.

We have an IKEA set that is ten years old and has been moved twice. It still looks good and is functional. My DD has my DH'a childhood set (new mattress/box springs) that is 45 years old and still looks good and is functional. The guest room has a 20 year old set (new matress/box springs) that is still perfect. We have no plans to replace any bedroom sets anytime soon.

My parents have the set that my grandparents were given as a wedding present in the 40s, so that set is more than 70 years old and still in great shape.
