Weekend Trip to Maine, Help!

So we are going on a last minute trip to Maine this coming weekend (fri-sat-sun nights and hanging out Mon during the day before heading back). Just wanted to know if anyone has been before that can recommend some "must see/do" things in the area. We are planning on staying around the Bar Harbor area (unless someone suggests otherwise) if we can find a reasonable place that is not already fully booked at this point. There will be 4 of us, driving down and back to make it a road trip of sorts (Myself, DW and both of her parents).

| Acadia is incredible but with that timeframe think about Portland. Great city, great food, and lot of beauty nearby. |

Bar Harbor is a LOOOOOONNNGGGG drive from DC. When you cross the border into Maine, you're still only 3/4 of the way there.
That said, Acadia is amazing. We did a VRBO that was lovely. |

| I think you should reconsider driving the entire way. Both Hartford and Boston have cheap airfares. BWI to Boston Friday morning to Monday night is $600 for 4 people on Spirit. It is a 2 hour drive to Portland from there. |
