Can I get a facial in my first trimester? I'm 8 weeks pregnant. I've heard conflicting things. Thanks for your thoughts! |
What's supposed to be bad about someone massaging creams and lotions onto your face?
|
i think it's fine but you should be careful about the products that they use. my obgyn said to avoid alpha-hydroxy. |
I would make sure I went to a spa that has services for pregnant woman--I just had a facial and the aestitician knew what things were okay--ex. certain products like retinal shouldn't be used and certain products are harsher on pregnant skin. There are also certain pressure points that shouldn't be massaged--she told me that it really isn't as big a deal in the first trimester but that their spa avoids these areas for liability. I would suggest this spa but it is in Arizona![]() |
I have kept my regular facial routine throughout my pregnancy. My facialist uses all botanical/herbal products, no harsh chemicals or peels.
The pressure points concern is about going into early labor. Hardly something you need to be worrying about at 8 weeks. And those points are not on your face/neck/back anyway. |
I am having facials throughout my pregnancy (I'm 32 weeks). I checked with my OB and she said it was perfectly safe, including using alpha hydroxy. She did tell me not to do any waxing through or eyelash tinting (I have blonde eyelashes). My OB is EXTREMELY conservative with me as I had a very late loss in my first pregnancy. She has told me to avoid many things. But facials were not one of them. ENJOY! ![]() |
OP here. Thanks for the information! |
Most good spas will have you fill out a medical information form before any services, which include whether you're pregnant.
Why no waxing? There have been plenty of posts on here about bikini waxing during pregnancy. |
