Hi,
Does anyone have experience w/ both Maryland Youth Ballet and The Washington Ballet School? We're trying to decide on placement for our 6 y.o. daughter; would be Pre-ballet II at either school and currently enrolled at TWB. We know they're both really good options, but would love to hear about anyone's personal experiences, positive or negative, and significant differences in school culture, if any. Thanks, in advance! |

We chose to go with Maryland School of Dance. MSD has an excellent teaching staff and a much more relaxed vibe. I want my DD to be taught by experts, but without yelling and high stress. We couldn't be happier.

| Unless she is a ballet prodigy--and maybe even if she is--at her age any one would be great and I would go with the one that's more convenient for you. |

Washington Ballet is a slightly more competitive and snobby than Maryland Youth Ballet.
We have loved Maryland Youth Ballet for our children, except that we don't really appreciate how all these places take themselves SO seriously (not limited to ballet!). Bottom line is, the more serious the school, the more exigent they will be on attendance and rehearsals - which is necessary but at the same time can be carried a little too far. |
| Check out City Dance - incorporates more types of dance than just ballet and still remains a very prodessional ballet company. |
