how to find a good realtor in a new area where you don't know anyone personally?

Are their sites/messages boards, etc that I can look at?

Drive the neighgborhood and look for signs. See if you see the same name come up a lot. Write down a few. Interview three.

Our realtor Sue Jin Song (VA) was unbelievable - she is so driven and tireless and sharp. I would never consider anyone else. She will get you what you want.

Signs are obsolete. Too many looky loo losers; and not enough serious buyers.

We used the internet....stuck with big name places, like Sotheby's, Warren Lewis, Corcoran etc. Then combed through the agents to see who seemed like a career agent vs. one or two deals a year. Then we looked to see if they were doing deals in 1)The areas we were looking to buy and 2)In our price range. No sense using someone who regularly does townhouses or apartments at the $500,000 range if we're looking for a SFH in the $1.5 range. From there it was mostly like closing our eyes and pointing, but we did google the names to see what comes up, judge if they seemed professional and there weren't complaints against them and then of course interviewed them on the phone to see if personality wise we felt like we wanted to spend long weekends looking with them. Did they listen to our desires, ask questions, etc... Don't settle, and don't sign an exclusive contract the first day you meet with them.

I looked at reviews on Zillow, in the DC area. Not sure if smaller areas will have that many reviews or not.

Don't trust those reviews.

It is going to depend on the area of SJ. A Cape May realtor for Ocean City is like McClean for Ashburn,

What beach?
