Any Updates/Insights on BH Triangle Tots Director Departure? Is 1111 Penn Better?

So we are transitioning my 20 month old to daycare next month for the first time (she's been home w/ a nanny) and landed on Triangle Tots beginning in December. We were feeling fine w/ our choice until I called today to schedule a pre-enrollment visit w/ the Director--and was told that *the Director no longer works there.*

They said a Regional Director is popping in/out every week, a search is ongoing, and an Assistant Director is plugging in during the vacancy. However, this sounds like a bit of a disaster to me--especially as I transition my child to daycare for the first time! Any insights on what led to the Director's departure, how the transition is going (teacher morale/interim management capability/how children are faring)?

I am also reconsidering 1111 Penn--any experiences w/ toddler room over there? I picked Triangle Tots not only due to cost, but b/c I liked the playground, parking and thought the teachers seemed happy during my tour (even in the infant room) and I l liked the Asst. Director. But apparently a lot can change in a month...

Would love any updates/feedback.

Ugh. We started at a BH center a few years ago when they were between directors and did not have a good experience. I think if they had had a director in place it would have been much smoother. Could you talk to the Regional Director to find out when they will have someone in place?

Really? As a recent departure (that is, my kid departed) from the center, I don't think that's a bad thing. Granted, it depends on who they get to replace her...but I didn't care for her, and I don't think most of the staff did either (morale seemed to take a dive when she came on board and didn't pick up much by the time we'd left). We found her ineffective in addressing parent concerns (yes yes, we're putting a plan in place to address that...only to have the plan be to continue the exact same thing), on our side of things. The regional director is pretty good but no substitute for an onsite director. That said my understanding is that they have a hard time filling director positions, so I wouldn't count on this being a short term thing. I'm not sure 1111 Penn is better though - last drop in day, they didn't change my kid's diaper the entire time (she's 3 not 3 months, but still in the potty training process so...yeah, basics) and told her Mommy wouldn't come back if she didn't stop crying, because she was crying from being in a strange place. Needless to say we won't go back there and I wouldn't feel comfortable putting my kid there full time. YMMV.

I think the staff at the 20 month age (and the next two rooms or so after) is solid at Triangle Tots. I'd recommend going for it - but what are your other options? Can you do a tour before committing to hopefully assuage concerns about whether things are falling apart?

Yes, I heard see was never there and always left early. This left the assistant director and others in leadership really running the center. She was rude and always on her phone when she was there. The center is better off without her.

Ha! Sounds like 21:45 is a staff person at the center. Listen to her. The program will be fine. BH will quickly find great leadership for your program.

I worked at this center! Run far and fast as you can! The money you pay us for a baby sitting service. The teachers are rude and they pretend to teach your children.

The previous director was told that teachers were yelling and sometimes abusive to children and she didn't do anything. I've seen teachers in busy bees, and Ms. Bonitas class the 3 yr old make children sit on the potty for hours, sit until they finish their food.

I've seen teachers in the infant classroom leave babies on the floor crying and their diapers are soaked. One teacher Ms. Carolyn yanks the babies up when they are crying and it's to much for her.
