only you can decide if it is really worth the risk |
Why? |
I'm a shorter distance runner and was able to keep up my routine until around 22 weeks. |
This is good advice. |
i'd do it, but I am excessive in that way. |
Here's a thought: ASK YOUR DOCTOR. You know, the person with a medical degree whose job it is to oversee your health and the health of your unborn child?
If you do this without consulting your doctor and harm or lose the baby, you are negligent and directly responsible. |
Heck no. And not because of any concerns for the baby - though I have those. Running is bad on your knees, running a marathon worse on them but running one while pregnant is insane. Unless you would like to get knee replacement surgery so that you can run in 10 years ![]() |
+1 |
+ 2 no hardcore points for endangering the baby. Only downside in this situation. So why? |
I know someone who ran a marathon at 5 months along. Well, she ran/walked it. She relied heavily on her Dr. who gave her the okay. |
Again with this post? We already said no. |
Make that +3! |
I ran a marathon at 12 weeks. I also found out just after a 19 mile run. It was fine. I scaled back on training (no more hill sprints), adjusted my pace to keep the effort in check, carried water with me, and listened to my body. My time was nothing to crow about, but training for and running that marathon is one of my favorite memories of that pregnancy. And running was the only time I wasn't miserable with morning sickness.
But, pps are right. There will always be other marathons. Ultimately, it's your decision and you get to do what feels right for you. Best of luck either way. Congrats on your pregnancy! |
have you ever been pregnant? |
This would be my concern. |
