The only thing I can say is "I need the eggs".

ditto -- except for the diarrhea.

I'm a total addict. In the morning, I open my email, my gchat and this site.

Frequently I log on out of boredom, a need to procrastinate from my daily grind, occasionally to get/give advice and also for the entertainment factor.

I love being asked for and giving advice, especially to new moms.

Occasionally I have a question that I can get good answers or at least insights to.

Sometimes it is really cathartic to just be able to speak my mind on some topic without having to worry about being PC or social repercussions.

All of the above. At first I was just looking for places to post my Zumba class information...but then I got hooked too!

To witness how warped and twisted DC moms are.

I like to read those too...but I also like reading the untwisted, unwarped moms' responses too.

Came here because I was new to DC and needed to sort out childcare.

I use it for practical reasons; when I need advice about something.

I also visit the site out of boredom and entertainment, in the same way I check out newspapers online or check email- see if there's anything new to read about.

I go through periods of using it. I find if I have a busy life, I never check it. But when I don't, I resort to it more.

And yes, I think it provides a sense of community, which has started to grow on me. I do find it fascinating to get an insight as to how other people think and act! That's why I think the whole anonymous nature of it is great.

I come here to learn how other moms work it all out - find balance, etc.

I love hearing how WM have adapted their schedules and lives, and fit everything in (or at least try!) and how SAHMs fill their days etc. - I believe both types and everything in between can be great moms, and I must admit it makes me sad sometimes to read those posts where folks are staunchly on one side of that debate.

I love hearing why WM love to work and why SAHMs love staying home. I come for the stories - and there are some good ones in the midst of all the snarkiness.

Anyone interested in starting a "DCUM Fast" thread? The idea would be to commit to one week (or some other period) with no DCUM and report back on the experience.

This describes me perfectly. I find this site to be a great source of information and also entertainment. And I agree that it's a way to connect and create community, even in a virtual (and often disfunctional) kind of way.

Originally came here looking for a nanny, then a playgroup. It's devolved now into a horrible addiction. I hate this site but I can't stay away. It doesn't help that I work at a computer all day.
