I'm almost 40 and my knees have taken enough twist and turns (not to mention I lack coordination). I have an exercise bike, but need some variety and would love to add a very basic (not a lot of coordiation needed - not alot of twisting and turning) step workout into my rotation. Everything I look at seems to be emphasisng how crazy hard it is. I'll admit it, I don't want overly hard, I just want decent. Any suggetions? |
Not step but Turbo Jam is great, as is Denise Austins Ten Pounds in 30 Days. If you have Comcast on Demand there are a ton of great step workouts in the Sports/Exercise section. You can try out tons of them. |
If your knees are bothering you, step aerobics MAY make it worse, with all the stepping action. (I used to be step queen!). Try it, but if your knees feel worse, I would stick to basic Low Impact aerobics, and a yoga video to limber your legs afterwards. |
OP, I meant to recommend this site to you www.collagevideo.com. You can view the videos and they are rated by intensity. Great site. |
OP here. Thanks so much for the recommendations. We have Comcast but not in the basement where I usually workout (to avoid waking my child). As far as my knees, I think basic stepping is actually good for them, (builds the muscles), but yes, I will be careful. I think I remember reading the step was actually invented by a woman who had bad knees as physical therapy, and it is the twisting and turning that kill people.
I will try the non-step workout someone suggested as well as that website. Anything to get a decent work-out in and add some variety to the bike. |
