Women should be confined to homes, not allowed to say no to sex

I just don't understand how anyone can take religion this seriously. It's not just Islam, there are radicals in other religions also, including members of my family who won't let their females wear pants, work, etc. It just seems crazy to me. Figures, in the video, he talkes about wives getting fat and ugly.

“A woman must turn her home into a flourishing garden for her husband, so that he does not flee from her like a leper or a lion,” Sheik Abdel Moez al-Eila told the congregation at the Al-Nur mosque.

The sermon was delivered on January 23rd, but has only just come under broad public scrutiny after a video of the address surfaced on Sunday.

The imam went on to say that women should restrict themselves to taking care of their home, children and husband, and that only an overly ”lenient” husband would allow his wife to work - “a big problem in the society in which we live [in Germany]”.

But al-Eila's most archaic comments come at the end of the sermon, when he says that “a woman is not allowed to refuse to sleep with her husband.

“She is not allowed to make excuses or use pretexts.”

It would make things easier for everyone

FWIW a man isn't allowed to refuse to sleep with his wife in Islam either. Not that a religion should dictate that anyway.

There's often repression of women in extreme forms of religion, yes. Do a little research on ultra-orthodox Judaism.

I wish I could turn my home into a "flourihsing garden", but alas, I have to work to bring home income. I would really like a flourishing garden though.

OP here, yes, that is the truth. It's also in radical baptists, which is what my family are.

Nothing in the original post differs from the Duggars' interpretation of Christianity.

Well, the bible says that women are empty vessels and the man should be the head of the household. And, in all honesty, it would be easier if we all believed this -- but HELL TO THE NO!!!

Well, it would make things easier for men. If you think of women as excluded from "everyone," then you are right.

What's it like being Muslim? Well, it's hard to find a decent halal pizza place and occasionally there is a hashtag calling for your genocide...

Ironic this was from an imam in Germany. A hundred years ago it was a common saying in Germany to say that a woman's role was kinder kuche, and kirche. Not sure of the spellings but that is children, kitchen, and church. And in many churches men sat on one side and the women on the other.

But now we have Angela.

LOL. This kind of thinking is just wishful thinking from losers who are pissed that they no longer have a woman obligated to do what they say in order to make them feel like they have some semblance of power and achievement in the world. Now their crutch is gone and they're pissed.

I find it hilarious.

Hilarious except to the women whose husbands listen to this crap.

I don't find this funny in the least bit, and I would think you wouldn't either if you actually took time to think about the poor women who are held to these religious rules.

I find it extrememly disturbing, scary, depressing, etc., but certainly not funny at all.
