Can I make my own website

Anonymous
Any suggestions for making my own website? I have a Mac, am somewhat computer savvy, and want to finally make a website to better market my skills, etc. Will need to post videos of my recent work. Has anyone used "iweb" or something else you would recommend?

Any tips?
Want to keep the costs down, as much as possible.

Thanks

you can make your own web site very easily. but chances are, it will look like you made it yourself and not be very impressive unless you have a good sense of user friendliness and how to make a website look professional.

Sign up for a MobileMe (used to be called .mac) account if you haven't already. It is completely integrated with the Mac OS and iWeb. Using iWeb and MobileMe, you will be able to create a professional-looking website that incorporates pictures, video, sound, etc.

You can get by without one and use the mobile me address. Or, mobile me allows you to set one address as the main address for the site. You would have to register a domain name which you can do via GoDaddy or a similar service. You will then need to create a DNS record pointing the domain name at Mobile me. There are instructions someplace on mobile me for doing that.

I used startlogic.com. It's only $6 a month for a site without ads. I used one of their templates until I had time to make my own.
