We're not completely thrilled with our charter Kindergarten (and no, I won't name it right now) so I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any open K spots at the moment? Before I do a lot of leg work, just looking for a quick canvas of the group.
Our IB DCPS is an option, albeit not a great one, so I'm exploring that too. Thanks! |
I think you can get this info on the myschooldc website. |

How long has it been? If its just less than a week, I'd relax. But maybe call all the schools you are on the WL for? What's your IB? |
Thank you! That is my next stop. |
Absolutely, less than a week and I'm definitely riding it out. Just curious about options ![]() |
OP, if I were in your shoes, I'd identify the schools that I would really want my child to attend and just call them. Here's the deal...it comes down to how many children are in each K class. If a school is busting at the seams with 24-25 kids per K class, then they won't have room. BUT, if you find out a desirable school happens to have low K numbers (18-20 kids per class) that school may entertain the idea of you enrolling. And this willingness will intensify the closer we get to count day. Yes, before everyone chimes in, of course there are OOB waitlists, but once you get into mid- to late-Sept I seriously question if schools follow the waitlists. A parent who seems really, really interested and seems like he/she would be engaged may tip the scale if you call the last week in September. |
If you can share what type of concerns you are having it might help people suggesting schools. |
And if you need aftercare, you need to take that into consideration before enrolling because many schools have aftercare waitlists. |
