| I am debating quitting my gym and starting to work out at home. It'd be a better solution for me for a variety of reasons. Is there any reason I shouldn't be working out on a carpeted surface? I primarily do yoga and free weights - I will work on a yoga mat for the yoga. But with the free weights - squats and lunges especially - will carpeting mess up my form or anything? Greater risk for injury? Barefoot or with runners on? TIA! |

Definitely with shoes on for stability and to keep from slipping.
I've never found working out on carpet to be entirely satisfying; I certainly don't use the heavier weights I use at the gym. Could you take the carpet out? |

Good shoes will make a difference. Barefoot is good to but depending on the carpet and the exercise you may run into possible injuries due to lack of the right type of support.
