It seems Food and Cooking channels are now both mostly competitions or extreme eating of some sort.
I used to really like Ellie Krieger, French Food at Home, David Rocco's show, but I Don't think there are new episodes. Any recommendations? |
I like Giada At Home, Barefoot Contessa, and The Pioneer Woman. They have new episodes most weekends. |
Not really. It is really sad. |
Love the contests. You can learn a lot. |
Barefoot Contessa still good. Her recipes are foolproof and simple |
America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Country |
The Mind of a Chef |

Pioneer Woman. |
"Mexico, One Plate At a Time" |
I still like Barefoot Contessa and 30 minute meals. I also love top chef but not really to learn anything. |
Most of the PBS shows are good and provide information worth learning. |
OP here: Thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely try to DVR some of these & see if I like them.
I thought that the Cooking channel, at least at its inception, was supposed to really focus on cooking/how to shows. It's unfortunate it has gone the way of Food Network. |
I agree with this. Also, OP, I agree with your assessment of the change in programming for the Cooking Channel. It seems like the only qualification you need to be a chef is good hair/cheekbones. |
