Are there any cooking shows still worth watching?

It seems Food and Cooking channels are now both mostly competitions or extreme eating of some sort.
I used to really like Ellie Krieger, French Food at Home, David Rocco's show, but I Don't think there are new episodes.

Any recommendations?

I like Giada At Home, Barefoot Contessa, and The Pioneer Woman. They have new episodes most weekends.

Not really. It is really sad.

Love the contests. You can learn a lot.

I still like Barefoot Contessa and 30 minute meals. I also love top chef but not really to learn anything.

Most of the PBS shows are good and provide information worth learning.

OP here: Thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely try to DVR some of these & see if I like them.

I thought that the Cooking channel, at least at its inception, was supposed to really focus on cooking/how to shows. It's unfortunate it has gone the way of Food Network.

I agree with this. Also, OP, I agree with your assessment of the change in programming for the Cooking Channel. It seems like the only qualification you need to be a chef is good hair/cheekbones.
