9 month old with back to back colds

my son is 9 months old and has been sick 4 times in the last month or so. he first had croup then got better but got sick a week later with an upper resp. infection and double pink eye. About a week or so after that he started vomitting really bad. We took him to Children's Hospital b/c he was getting dehyrdated. They gave him some fluids and some meds to help settle his tummy. They advised that he also had a slight ear infection. He vomitted on and off for about a week. He is sick again now with what seems like a cold/cough. We have been taking him to the doctors each time at least twice and they keep saying he is ok and this isn't unheard of. My question is has anyone else ever been through something like this? Does this mean there is something wrong with immune system? Also I was wondering if it is normal for the parents to get sick right along with the baby. I had two colds in a row when my son was sick and so did my husband. Plus got his colds a couple of times throughout the summer. My husband and I never use to get sick this much. Is that normal? Thanks!

It's normal. Especially if he's in day care. My son got a cold/ear infection once a month all last winter (his first in day care). Now he's going every 6 weeks to 8 weeks between illnesses.

I worried about the immune system too, but if he's fighting it off (even if antibiotics are needed), he's fine. He's actually building his immune system by getting sick and learning how to fight them off.

I didn't, however, get sick from my son. I washed my hands a million times a day, and used hand sanitizer, and didn't kiss him on the mouth. That might help if you aren't already doing that. The other thing is that if you are lacking sleep (natural), your immune system is a bit weakened anyway. Hang in there, this too shall pass.
