UK prohibits claims that creationism has scientific basis in gov't funded schools

According to the UK government:

"[Creationism] does not accord with the scientific consensus or the very large body of established scientific evidence; nor does it accurately and consistently employ the scientific method, and as such it should not be presented to pupils at the Academy as a scientific theory," the agreement states.

The funding agreement notes that the discussion of beliefs about the origin of the Earth including creationism are permitted in religious education "as long as it is not presented as a valid alternative to established scientific theory."


So it's ok to teach creationism as religion, which it is, but you can't teach it as science, which it isn't.

Crap , just teach math , reading, writing and grammar. Our schools have no business teaching anything else until the kids are proficient .

Yes there is. According to Australia's government, the foundation of the Great Barrier Reef is around 600,000 years old, and the current corals forming it are 9,000 years old, so the earth could not be only 6,000 years old, unless the Great Barrier Reef is somehow older than the Earth.

Nevermind. I misunderstood the post as saying that the earth was younger than 10,000 years old, not the other way around. My bad.
