So, the arson house in Falls Church is going up for foreclosure auction

Anonymous
You know, the one at Haycock and Westmoreland? That's been deliberately set on fire like 3 times? We've had a couple of threads on it.

The auction is June 10.

You couldn't pay me to buy that property, let alone live in it.

You mean the McLean house

Don't start. It's in the Falls Church section of Fairfax County and is much, much closer to Falls Church both in terms of physical distance and neighborhood character.

It's McFallsington.

Hope the asshole neighbors lose some equity with this.

I would only buy it if I were prepared to put up something that looked very, very different than Gigantor in its place. Maybe a modest Colonial or a cute little bungalow.

The teardown activity elsewhere in that area has continued unabated, increasing the overall property values. There clearly was something "special" about that house/owner/location.

I thought it got "turned over" to the county and they were going to put some sort of halfway house on the lot? Not that it would fly with the neighbors, I mean be on the lookout for #4 if that were to actually go through! What's the speculation on the first 3 fires?

The half way house would serve those awful neighbors right! Maybe they are candidates to reside there themselves, it seems. If they burn the house down again, they can be charged with murder, once it is sold. I hope to see them charged sooner rather than later.

There are some unstable neighbors who can not stomach the first new house being built in their neighborhood. There is a famous case in McLean (the neighborhood across from Churchill School) where the next door neighbor repeatedly harassed the owner of the first new house. It will be interesting!

The neighbor does not sound very smart, though I suppose that is usually the case, hence their frustration.

What are you blathering about? There are tons of new houses in that area of Falls Church already.

Then what is your problem? Looking for a fight again?

Do they know who set the fires?

A halfway house there would be awesome!

I don't think Fairfax is in the habit of putting halfway houses directly across the street from elementary schools.

Hey, I can't argue with you there! I'm just saying what I'd heard from more than one source, and besides, when has the county ever been 100% about doing what makes sense?

I think I'd look for some new sources.
