The ban goes into effect January 1, 2017, and applies to pretty much any retail consumer hygiene product that includes triclosan as an active ingredient—including about 75 percent of anti-bacterial soaps. According to the FDA, there's no evidence that triclosan soap is any more effective at washing away germs than non-antibacterial soap and water, and recent studies have indicated that triclosan can "disrupt hormones critical for reproduction and development, at least in lab animals, and contribute to the development of resistant bacteria." So, according to the FDA, triclosan isn't doing any real good, and it could actually be harming you, too. |
Yay, can't wait for this insane fad to be outlawed. Does way more harm than good. |
It's also in a lot of toothpaste. And other products. Good riddance. |
You dirty liberals can have your weak soap. I like to disinfect. |
You missed this part: "According to the FDA, there's no evidence that triclosan soap is any more effective at washing away germs than non-antibacterial soap and water" |
It's this kind of nonsensical stuff that gives Minnesotans a bad name and...Long lives. MN second for longevity after Hawaii. |
Good. The stupidity of that stuff drives me crazy. And it always smells awful.
Signed, a bacteriologist |
Everyone knows that science is a liberal conspiracy. |
Love it! |
Weak soap! Awesome spin. But you sound pretty fearful if you feel the need to disinfect on a regular basis, and I equate that with weakness. I am brave. I can live with regular ol' soap. |
