| Anyone following this? Does anyone care? Or will Leggett win by a landslide? |
| Might vote for Andrews, not sure. |
| OP here. I'm voting for Andrews, but don't think he's got much chance. I don't hear much from Duncan, though... |
|
Duncan, Andrews isn't well known enough. Leggett has run his course and people are starting to see his actions ruin the county. schools are slipping, roads are in terrible shape, trash everywhere.
the county needs someone who is going to come in and make swift changes and not lay to the minorities to get the votes. |
I'm just not so sure Duncan can do it. He ran the show when the County was flush with cash....it no longer is. |
But agree about Leggett. He's checked out as far as I can tell. |
| Leggett needs to go. |
| Right now I'm voting for anyone but Leggett. |
| Anyone have a good source for information about the candidates? |
Well, I will post about Andrews since that's who I like the best. He introduced legislation to provide candidates a public financing option. Private interest money, particularly from developers, is a problem in MoCo. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/maryland-news/phil-andrews-to-put-forth-bill-setting-up-public-financing-in-montgomery-county-elections/2014/01/26/de4228ba-847e-11e3-8099-9181471f7aaf_story.html I think he was the only Councilmember to vote against a two year, 13%+ raise that county employees just got. I'm a county employee, and admit I like the money, but there are county services that really need to be restored that can't get restored when so much money is going to personnel costs. Wouldn't a 4-5% raise have been good enough just coming out of a difficult recession? He introduced a charter amendment that promotes county hiring of people with disabilities. That way they can get meaningful employment and decent wages. He's done a lot to fine-tune some bargained benefits, which has driven unions nuts. But they were fiscally sound moves for a county deep in the throes of a recession. Like getting rid of the phantom COLAs. People got retirement benefits based on raises they never received. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/12/AR2010031204169.html And he's always trying to get property tax rate and the electricity (fuel energy) tax reduced. |

A good reason to ditch Leggett. Silver Spring transit center.

| Which candidate is Doug Gansler backing? Then vote for the other guy! |
