Does anyone have experience with a school shooting?

When I was a sophomore in high school (3 years after Columbine) there was a bomb threat at school. We were evacuated, bomb squad showed up, etc. Nothing was found.

Not a school shooting, but like a PP, was at school when there was a bomb threat written on the bathroom stall. Fortunately, it was some idiot kid who apparently just wanted to cause a ruckus, but still rather scary...

You're correct. I made a mistake. Same teacher, different year. Seeing as how it had nothing to do with the thread, I didn't see a need to correct it, but I hope you felt really smart!

I was in a federal building in 1999 when a suspicious letter arrived claiming to be anthrax.

the FPS initially quaranteened the whole building but later let our section leave. Not sure how long the poor employees in the affected section were stuck there. It was really unfair.

It turned out to be a hoax but it was very scary before we found out.

I haven't had personal experience with a shooting, but a family friend was killed in the VA Tech shootings. It was unbearably painful to see the family grieve, but they have channeled their pain into working tirelessly (and unfortunately, fruitlessly because of the gun lobbies) for greater gun restrictions.

They are wasting their time; VA tech was the result of severe mental illness just as was the attack on sen. Creigh Deeds. We need to address mental illness because it is the root cause.

Further, mental illness is emerging as a huge factor in so many other societal ills such as domestic abuse, alcoholism\drug abuse, divorce, etc. They should put their effort into areas where they can make meaningful change for the better of all.

There is a point in which mental health and easy access to guns intersect. Both are the problem with VA Tech, and many of these kinds of violent rampages.

Not a school shooting per say, but a preschool shooting. Off duty police officer shot and killed his wife on the front steps as she dropped their preschooler off. It's been 11 years. I can still see the way her body jerked as the first bullet hit. I have never been the same since.

I agree, I am poster who witnessed and was in the crossfire of the 1995 UNC shootings. Williamson was/is a paranoid schizophrenic who had stopped taking his meds and stole his father's gun. He was convinced males were reading his thoughts. He was found innocent by reason of insanity. I still have panic attacks sometimes when I hear and see police cars in hot pursuit. I hid behind and underneath a car. The guy next to me peed his pants he was so scared.

Never been in a situation where the shooting was inside classrooms or hallways...gang shooting happened in front of school during dismissal .everybody scattered until cops came & had the dudes from both crews lined up
