Arbonne products are nice, but expensive unless you know someone who will pass along their discount. I also like using Cetaphil and California Baby. For bar soap I like the oatmeal soap from Trader Joe's. I liked the regular (yellow tube) A&D diaper ointment for preventative use.
And when it's time for sunscreen, stay away from Water Babies--overwhelming smell and causes a reaction in a lot of kids. Aveeno makes a good one for babies. |
I also loved the Mustela foam shampoo. It was very gentle, good on cradle cap and smelled good. It was expensive, but the one bottle that we got lasted from birth until my dd had too much hair to use it. Then we passed the same bottle on to someone else!
I would also caution you to read ingredient lists. I was shocked to find nut oils in some of the Burt's Bees baby products. Recent research has suggested that the topical use of nut oils increases the likelihood of children developing allergies. |
Desitin and Aveeno |
You've received a lot of great recommendations so far-- just thought I'd throw in one more item that wasn't mentioned in case you need it. Jojoba oil for cradle cap. I found Aquafor to be too greasy and pure jojoba oil-- which you can get a Whole Foods or Trader Joes-- was recommended to me by a nurse at the hospital. It's also great for excema and Mom's dry winter face. A little goes a long way, I'm not even halfway through the 4 oz. bottle that I bought almost a year ago.
I didn't need to use diaper cream until my daughter started solids but it's good to have around. We like Desitin, but that's the only brand we've tried. I would get the original formula, not the creamy, since the creamy rubs/washes/pees away too easily. |
OP here...this is just a great list. Thank you, thank you. I'm going to print everything and hold onto it to have a bunch of choices once the little one arrives. |
