| we thought we'd hook up with some of my SD's friends for new year's eve, but all of them are out of town! any family-friendly new year's events (cheap/free) in PG, MoCo or DC tonight? we are a young dad and stepmom, kid is 7. we already know about brookside gardens, but were wondering if there are other options. |

Greenbelt is having a great new years party. It is $7 at the door for those 6 and up, five and under are free. There are firedancers (part of the opening ceremony), bands, bouncey castles and other great things going on.

New Year's Eve Family Swing Dance at Glen Echo 8pm-1am The Tom Cunninghan Orchestra brings the swing as you and your kids do their thing! Adults 14 & older $25, kids 5 - 13 $10, under 5 are free First Night Alexandria 6pm-Midnight One of the best villages in the area turns into an all-out family-friendly free-for-all on New Year's Eve. Zillions of bands, facepainters, magicians, storytellers and interactive kids' entertainers perform. Free. First Night Leesburg 6pm-Midnight Over 100 erformances at 20 indoor locations in downtown Leesburg, all within walking distance of one another. The cool stuff includes jazz, classical music, puppet shows, bluegrass, folk music, magicians and more. $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $3 kids 3-12, kids under 3 are free. |
