Vince Grays interview in the post- DC can't reelect him!

Bowser or Jack evens work their tails of 24/7 for this city.

Both Evans and Bowser have solid plans to improve the city, education (DCPS), housing, small business, taxes....
Anyone but Gray. What a shameful excuse for Mayor!

I truly LOL at your statement. Bowser does not have a plan. Are you tripping. Please post her plan. She hasn't done anything during her entire tenure. As for Evans, he is in the pocket of businesses. But I guess that's okay. According to the Supreme Court, businesses are people too.

Once voters know this woman (Reta Lewis) is an option those numbers with rise. They only reason the other candidates are higher is because they have been in city government for years. She doesn't have name recognition yet but there are a lot of people who don't want to vote for a councilman. People realize insanity is doing the same thing over and over again !

I worked for Fenty and Gray - Fenty sucked. The city is actually being run better under Gray even if he is shady.

I actually know this woman and have for years. She is lovely and I like her, but she does not understand the issues in this city.

She misses a lot of debates too. I read she missed an education one and she was not at 6 and I last week. Education and homelessness / poverty. Seems to me, Bowser should not under any circumstances have missed those. Sixth and I is where I saw Reta Lewis . She was laying out her case and it sounded good !!

You said you've "known her for years ... She's lovely but she doesn't understand the issues of this city" Yes, but this City does not function properly, right? This is the problem, right? DC is our Nation's capital. It should be on the cutting edge, way above all other cities in the US but the kids in this city cannot even read. We have only one school that anyone can point to as ok. deal Deal Deal Dill lol
And wait who would want a degree from the school run by this city (UDC)? You can not say that about Atlanta, New York, Chicago. This is shameful.

The current people in power don't know how or want to address the real issues. Further, most cities that improved went through an abrupt change in leadership. New York with Guilianne, yes! There 's now hope for Chicago and Detroit, especially Detroit.

I think this Reta Lewis has significant experience that makes her over qualified really. She's worked with the top. I'm a least going to listen to her.

Btw what do you think the issues of this city are that she doesn't understand? ?????? For me , poverty, education and jobs are the biggest and most important. She had good information on her website regarding these .

My problem with the current DC council is there 's a 300 million dollar surplus. What issue is that money solving under the current leadership. Not a dang one!

One more thing. I'm a transplant here in D.C. I find most of my co workers who are also highly/over educated educated transplants don't get involved in DC politics. They state corruption and the high cost of living as reason they only want to live here temporarily. Thus maybe we don't understand DC issues so please tell me what they are.

Has the turnout for mayoral elections become less Black since Barry won 58-42 over Schwartz in 1994? Of course the overall demographics have become less Black, but I don't know if the White newcomers are of the sort who're only vaguely aware there's an actual local government with a mayor, city council, and all that stuff.

What if something truly damning comes out about Gray between April and November, he might be vulnerable in November. It'd have to be something really damning, like being recorded on tape accepting bribes or being found in bed with a dead boy or a decomposing girl. Not the penny-ante shit that's being talked about so far.

She's been at it for months, and with fewer than 60 days to the election, it is highly unlikely she will get those numbers up.

11:19 here. Reta Jo Lewis lost me when she said "DC needs a community college". Last time I checked, there was one on North Capitol Street. Hard to run for mayor or "understand the needs of the city" when you don't have the basic command of facts and functions.

So, who should I vote for to ensure that Gray does not win? I seriously cannot stand the thought of a 2nd term for that shady &*%^.

I suggest you read everyone's platform. Please see what they're about on your own and vote your conscience. Dont just go with crowd. Going with the crowd got us Fenty, Gray , Barry and maybe now Bowser or Gray again( Especially since these candidates can easily be misquoted) Case in point, I heard Reta Lewis say we need concentrate on community colleges as one of many solutions to adult education and job placement not what the blogger stated above. I say learn and listen for yourself.

I was the person who posted the above. She has since altered her speech after I mentioned it to her. This was in December, so there has been plenty of time for her to bone up on the issues, however, at the point she lost me.

Given her polling numbers, I am not the only one.

Issues are important, bu strategy is too. I'm not going to waste my vote on someone who has no chance of winning. What I'm asking is who do you think are the strongest candidates, meaning the ones with the greatest chance of beating Gray. That alone won't determine my vote, but it's an important consideration.

I have voted for him due to lack of options. Do you know that one of his challengers years ago was an 18 yo fresh outta HS? Nobody worthwhile ever runs against him and they all run as the alternative to Barry. I am 30 now, but have joked that I will run for the seat myself eventually.

Pp here. I don't care for Gray personally but I have to admit that I am happy with the changes occurring East of The River, which is where I live. Also, candidates tend to ignore our side of town. I don't hate him enough to switch to just anyone so I am leaning towards voting for him again. Ignoring Ward 7 and 8 put Fenty out of office.
