What did you think, OP?

I thought it was just ok

The school or the open house pp? Both?

I actually liked the physical school. Not sure how I feel about the overall vibe though based on the Open House. I know it's well regarded, but I didn't necessarily get a warm and fuzzy feeling...but that may be the nature of evening open houses though. I've already decided I'm going to try and attend the Feb open house in the morning when school is in session.

I'd love to hear what others thought too

OP -- What are you talking about. You won't get in. Don't bother obsessing at a SECOND open house. They have 12 spots for the entire city.

NP. 12 spots for PK3?
Anonymous
There's more than that right?

Last year they had 12 spots for PK3 for non siblings. This year they have 30 spots for PK3, but don't yet know how many will be taken by siblings.

Hopefully everyone has this attitude and I will be the only person applying! Go me!!!

I was at the open house. They estimated 18 spots for siblings out of 30 total.
I understand giving it a shot, but don't waste your time "deciding" whether the school is right for your child.

If that's your attitude, why bother attending?

Current SWS family here-we took that approach (waiting to see if we get in before going to an open house). Bad strategy-we got in and then had to make a quick decision. Fortunately it worked out and we're thrilled with the school. But you never know and it probably is worth it to get a sense of the school beforehand.

FWIW, SWS is about as warm and fuzzy as a school can get. I'm not saying it's perfect, but warmth is one thing it has in spades.

I think whether this school will work for your child is entirely dependent on your child. Reggio is PK is common; Reggio throughout elementary is not. I would not waste applying there if I thought it wouldn't work for my kid, especially now that you only have 12 slots total. That's why I think an open house is helpful.
