It's complicated. Are you applying for Pre-K or K-Plus? Those are two different lotteries. Also, English-language dominant vs. Spanish-language dominant are different. You should really contact the school. |
We have received conflicting information from neighbors and friends about what the Oyster boundary is. Has it changed since the merger with Adams? Are most folks in Mt. Pleasant outside the boundary?
Thanks everyone! |
No and Yes. Mt. Pleasant was not in the Adams boundary before the merger. So sounds highly unlikely, especially given location of Bancroft bilingual program, that anyone would risk professional suicide by messing with the Oyster boundary now. Of course you never know with DCPS. You can verify your address at dcps site. http://dcatlas.dcgis.dc.gov/schools/ |
And the boundary map is here: http://oysterbilingual.devis.com/Admissions/SchoolBoundary/
As you can see, there's a sliver of Adams Morgan. I've heard that in a year or two, the boundary will expand in that direction, and pull in the Lanier Place area. Not Mt. Pleasant, though. |
I thought part of Adams Mill Road in Mt. Pleasant was in... no?
|
The boundary is set in stone for now, meaning you could be on the wrong side of the street or end of the block even if it looks in on the static map. Do verify on the DCPS school locator with your exact address. We almost bought a place thinking we were in for Oyster based on the boundary map. This was during the Adams merger, so lots of confusion. The online tool and Oyster office confirmed the house was, in fact, the wrong side of street. Watch out for rumors. Oyster has a ton due to its high profile. |
