I am a 3-4 days/week runner. Now that the weather is getting cold, I'm looking for a DVD that provides a good cardio workout for days I can't run outside. Any recommendations? Thanks. |
Depends on what you are into. I don't know of any running workout dvds, but I used to use Denise Austin's (can't remember the exact name, something like Blast the Pounds) but it was all walking (inside the house). It was great when I was just getting back into shape, but then like most workout videos I became bored. I have heard good feedback about TurboJam and TurboKick, but haven't tried them.
I love my dance dvd workouts - I have everything from Hula Cardio, to BellyCardio, to Afro-Brazilian to Madonna Grime's Hip Hop workout to Nike's different dance workouts, but of course nothing compares to Zumba Cardio Party. Tae Bo is outdated, but it still looks like a good workout. And if you want to laugh...Richard Simmons is still at it! I think I would probably get a good ab workout just from laughing so much. |
I love the Firm DVDs which combine weights and cardio for a really effective workout. There are lots of different versions, you can probably find used ones cheaply on eBay. I also have a few Turbo Jam DVDs and they are great. Punch, Kick, and Jam is my favorite. |
I love the biggest loser dvd's. they are actually hard. |
Jillian Michaels 30 day shred!!! |
Ditto the 30 Day Shred. It focuses on strength as much (if not more) than cardio so it might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I've been thrilled with the results. |
P90X with Tony Horton is awsome if you are also looking to gain muscle strength |
love the Firm, too |
A third rec for the shred. It is Hard! |
I LOVED Turbo Jam DVDs, too and did it every day for 3 months straight, but I haven't gone back to do it for a year now. I memorized the routine and the music and everything. After 3 months, I felt great and stronger and fit, but I will never watch the DVDs because it's just too boring....same move, same people, same music over and over... |
Another vote for the 30 Day Shred. It's 30 minutes of basic moves and really works. |
Turbo Jam is great. Check out this website. www.bodiesinmotivation.com
