Washington Hebrew Congregation in the District has such a program, but it is usually already filled by now.

You might also try the JCC preschool in Dupont/Logan Circle. They have rolling admissions as soon as a child turns 2.

If you're in the Bethesda area, my children's preschool, Rock Spring Children's Center (formerly CC Children's Center), recently moved to a wonderful, custom-designed facility in Bethesda, near Walter Johnson HS and Montgomery Mall. It nearly doubled in size with the move, and currently has openings in the classrooms for two, three and four year olds. They are hosting open houses on December 11 and 18, from 6-8pm.

I cannot say enough good things about Rock Spring. Teacher turnover is extremely rare, and all the teachers are kind and loving and focused on the children. The curriculum is excellent and parents of our graduates have often remarked how well prepared their children were for kindergarten.

If you have any specific questions for a parent, please feel free to contact me at kakki_lewis(at)hotmail.com.

Children's Learning Center in Rockville takes kids throughout the year and has openings. I started my daughter there in January of last year and she transitioned beautifully.

Washington Hebrew Congregation still has some spots available in their January 2011 program for children who turned two between September - December 2010. Just call 202-895-6334 to get more information and register. Classes begin in late January and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 - 11:30 a.m.

We're starting the Jan session at Washington Hebrew and are really excited. My son turns 2 in November. I've been really pleased with their "tune into toddler" program that we're doing right now. For what it's worth, we are not Jewish - it seems to be a really diverse and accepting place!

Beth Emeth Early Childhood Center in Herndon has a program that begins in Sept but allows kids to enter throughout the year. Both my sons have gone through the program and we think it is wonderful. Very loving environment that is play based with some amazing amazing teachers. Both my sons (3 and 5) love love love to go to school. In fact, my 3-year-old gets bummed out when his Pre-K brother gets to go for 5 days and he only goes for three. This year, they had a 2-day program option as well as a 3-day program option for 2-year-olds. They also have some camps open for the 2-year-old set over the summer (I think). You can call the Director, Judy, and she will gladly take you on a tour. She can be reached by calling 703.860.4515 ext 115. Best of luck!
