My husband hated the neon icons on his new iphone, but found that when he changed his wallpaper the icons altered color automatically to match. It was pretty neat.

OP here. We went ahead and did it on our family ipad mini. Had to change the wallpaper, too! I haven't played with it much though, except to give Siri an Aussie accent. She had a great comeback when I asked her to put some shrimp on the barbie!

I love IOS 7. I was a bit put off by the colors at first, but I got used to them. But, the system as a whole is a nice improvement. The new control center is great. I think the biggest problem with the system is that most users don't know about the new features. They should have produced a nice introduction video to walk everyone through it (and maybe they did and I just don't know about it).

As for Apple being dead with Steve Jobs, that's a canard. The "S" upgrades have never been huge innovation jumps. Nevertheless, the new iPhone 5S has two major steps forward: a 64 bit processor and Touch ID -- the fingerprint scanner. Also, the activation lock means that much of the incentive for stealing your phone is gone. Seeing the lines for the new phone yesterday, and standing in one myself, it's obvious that a lot of enthusiasm remains for the iPhone. Other phones may have a feature or two that is better than the same feature on the iPhone, but as a complete package the iPhone is outstanding.

Touch ID itself was worth the upgrade for me. I can't tell you how happy I am to be reducing password usage.

I dunno, I guess it's nice and all but it reminds of shopping at the supermarket. Just when you know where everything is, they change the layout. Same with all these updates and "new looks". I have to figure out how to use it all over again. PS-to the PPs above talking about wallpaper (I know, so high school)-was it darker colors that made the icons easier to see?

This is a really dumb question but how do you install the update? Did you get a notification on your settings? I didn't get one. I have an iphone 4s. I've gotten notifications that I'm not backed up to the cloud, not sure why that is, but could that be the reason I didn't get the update pushed to me?

You can click on "settings" -> "General" -> "Software update" and it should tell you that the update is available. You should back up to either iCloud or your computer first in case there are any problems with the upgrade.

For shopping market poster, I agree that for us increasingly age-challenged users, moving things around is very frustrating. Apple should really stay off our lawn. But, luckily for me, I've adjusted after a couple of days.

Pretty happy with it. Wasn't super thrilled with colors, but overall asthetics is pleasant and adapts to your wallpaper b/c of transparency.

The new widgets are great, and updates to Siri are very useful.

And the way you can track and disable cellular data on a per app basis is incredible (i think android had this a while back?) but it recognizes that the age of unlimited data that the iphone was born into is gone.

Thanks Jeff, I'm older than you. A lot older.

I have a 4S too and didn't get the notification until yesterday either.
