| I'm 26 weeks pregnant and just started looking into childbirth classes. I would like to have a natural birth if possible, but understand that there may be unforeseen complications. What would you recommend for a first-timer? After a short poll with my friends, I was even more confused. Some didn't do any classes, some did both types, one person did the Bradley method, etc. All of these choices are expensive and my DH is reluctantly agreeing to do at least one that is under $200. Both of the options listed in the header meet that requirement at least... |
| Personally I thought the Sibley class was a giant waste of a day. I remembered nothing about it once I went into labor. If you are planning unmediated then I would definitely go w a different class. |
| Bradley is long (and a bit more expensive, around $300), but worth it. They have an almost 90% success rate of unmedicated births |

Hi there,
I teach a class that may fit your requirements! You can find the class schedule at www.dcbirth.com. My September class is full but maybe the October class would work for you? www.dcbirth.com Please let me know if you have any questions at all and best wishes! Amy w |

OP here: Has anyone tried the 2-day course at Washington Adventist Hospital. My husband just called and said he saw something there and it goes a bit into infant care and breastfeeding.
Any recommendations on instructors for the Bradley method? |
| I am 34 weeks with my first, delivering at Sibley, but found much cheaper classes at Holy Cross. We took a 6-hour babycare class already and are taking a 4-hour "childbirth: the basics" class soon. Also taking a 2-hour breastfeeding class there. The babycare and childbirth classes were $60 each (that covered both of us) and the breastfeeding $30. |
