Children's shoe stores

+1

Used to go to Stride Rite, but they never seem to have what I want in stock. And if you order online, you can't return in store.

I am cheap when it comes to clothes, but spend money for good shoes.

Stride Rite for the main shoes they wear most of the time. Payless for play shoes like ones for dirt or water.

Another vote for Nordstrom.

Does Ramer's have good selection for XW feet? I'm tired of Shoe Train.

There's just not much in extra-wide period no matter which brand/style. Call Ramers and ask.

(Also, note to Chuck, stop advertising on this thread. We get it.)

Yes, you can. The employees tell you no, but if you push, they can do it.

I apologize, no more posts until the store is open and then only one...I just wanted advice on product, nothing more as the store won't be open until probably 2014. Chuck

Nordstrom's or LLBean. Yes, they are more expensive, but they are the only shoes that can survive my boys. I tried buying cheaper shoes last year, and they completely fell apart within a few months. The good ones will last a year, and are outgrown at about the same time that they start looking rough.

I abhor Shoe Train. The waits are ridiculous, and since it has been sold, the service is really subpar. I grew up going to Shoe Train, and have taken my own children for years. But after the last few times where we waited hours for 5 minutes of service, I will never go back again. Also, could they have more besides that tiny train table to play with? And the prices are insane.

So, Hi everyone. I will be signing a lease for 1419 H Street NE. It used to be a small church. I will have the main floor and also the basement. Lease signing is April 1, I hope to have the store open and running by back to school. If anyone would like to see my business plan, so you know where I am coming from and my plans to support the local community as well as selling shoes, then hit me up at shoeguydc@hotmail.com

I wonder if it's OK to link to my business plan here as well.

Stay warm! If you need to go out, bundle up and drive carefully.

Thanks Chuck. Best of luck. I see you want to post your Biz plan. Are you still having financing issues or just want feedback?

Children's shoe box in Gaithersburg, MD.

The very best service, knowledgeable staff, best fitting. Slightly pricey but well worth it.

I just went to the stride rite outlet and was kinda shocked the prices were still around $40 for a pair of toddler sneakers.
Also, all the girls sneakers were pink and sparkly or had hello kitty/dora on the side. I wasnt impressed.

I found a pair of stride rites in famous footwear for $34.99, still a lot ( for me). I got DD's boys shoes because I liked them better. Just plain brown, kinda like a hiking shoe.

FWIW I have found stride rite to be the easiest to get on my toddlers foot, They seem to open up wider to get on.
