Well, if that is the case, they need to do a better job of communicating because everyone automatically becomes skeptical. Perhaps for good reason? Maybe not? Inquiring minds want to know... |
I happen to think the skeptics are those who already have an issue with GW for some reason. Might not be true, but very possible. |
Well my nurse is Catherine and I do a lot of traveling for work so maybe that's why I knew about it? I talk about timelines and such all the time. She was forthright and honest about the "shutdown", there really is nothing to hide all clinics do this. |
OP here- I was just wondering if that is common.
I am more than happy with Dr. F and would never change clinics after I found him. I spoke to my nurse again, since I am on NCIVF we have been waitin for my period and now I'm on provera. Granted they should have known that it would take me about a week to get my period, it didn't help that my nurse, Christie, was on vacation for 2 weeks. Miscommunication. As frustrated as we are it's ok. Leaves us more time to get healthier, lose some pounds, take a vacation, etc... Thanks for all your input. |
Nope, I never went to GW so have no issues with them. I just can't imagine dealing with these types of stresses on top of the stress of IVF. The staffing issue is something that people should consider before committing to a clinic because it is not that easy to move. If my IVF was unexpectedly delayed for a reason like this I would have been livid. |
Agree. They should have told everyone in advance. |
I've known about the shutdown for a few weeks ,
I've done cycles at CFA and there shutdown is in December. It's only two weeks and you could be on OCP's. |
I hear the new Dr is starting in August . |
Really? I've done my treatment with Dr. G when he was still with GW. Wanted to another consult when new Dr. joins the practice. So, Aug 2013?! |
Yes, that would be in ~2 weeks. |
I am a new patient there and showed up to my first appointment 15 minutes late today-- horrible traffic on Beltway and then I got lost in DC trying to find their office. Still, my fault, I should have left work earlier.
Anyway, they cancelled my appt because I was 15 minutes late and told me I will need to reschedule for sometime in September. I asked for a date and they told me they can't schedule anything yet for September but will call me. I thought that was strange, to say the least. |
Seriously people, go somewhere else. I don't care how great Dr Frankfurter is, these administrative nightmares are too much to deal with on top of fertility issues. I swear the people taking up for GW feel stuck with them because all their testing was done there and/or they have frozen embryos there. There is absolutely no reason to put up with this when there are so many other facilities in the area without these issues and I would start to wonder how they are managing their lab. |
Yeah I hear no other clinic has administrative issues. Or, you could talk to them about your concerns.
If this others you - waiting until August to have an appointment or whatnot, then yes, go somewhere else. I've been late to appointments there and called while running late and it's never been an issue. I would be bothered by that, but if the doctor you were meeting with had an ER or ET after your appointment, those are more time sensitive than a consult. My ET ran late because he was finishing an ER...I'd rather have a doctor not rush my ER than anything else! But I think people should share their concerns with the clinic instead of speculate on a forum. |
Why would they have to shutdown to clean the lab? can't they clean it without shutting the whole thing down? And why does it take 2 weeks? I could clean 10 apartments in 2 weeks. By myself. |
All clinics have a shutdown to clean the lab. I don't know if it is required by law or what but they all do it. An apartment is not the same thing as an embryology lab. Sorry, I know I shouldn't even be responding to this post. |
