I'm interested in recommendations on preschools in Bethesda (either playbased or Montessori) for 3 year olds. Thanks |
I think of all locations in Maryland, I see this question quite a bit- "preschools in bethesda". Just do a quick search on this forum with your key words and you'll get an abundance of suggestions. Take it with a grain of salt but first try word of mouth from people you know. Try also LOCATE childcare through Montgomery County and you'll get a list of licensed centers. And of course visit and see what you think. |
My son and daughter both attend Concord St. Andrews Cooperative Nursery School. My children have thoroughly enjoyed their play-base curriculum and I been delighted with what they have learned. It is a great stepping stone to kindergarten.
Here’s more info about the school: Concord-St. Andrew's Cooperative Nursery School currently has openings in our five day four-year-old class. Concord-St. Andrew's Cooperative Nursery School is dedicated to providing a warm and loving family environment, in which children are encouraged to learn and grow. Through our play based curriculum, our four year old program meets or exceeds Montgomery County's Pre-K curriculum. We are located at 5910 Goldsboro Road in Bethesda. For more information about the school please go to our web site at www.csacns.org, or contact Marion Webb, Director, at 301-229-5225 or director@csacns.org. |
Concord St. Andrew's Cooperative Nursery School is currently scheduling tours for 2009-2010 school year.

I have a new daycare/pre-school using the Reggio-Emilia method called Chevy Chase Reggio. We have openings for 3 year olds and open houses this month. Please look at www.chevychasereggio.com for more information or call me.

My son is attending Bradley Hills Nursery School. It is play-based and I have been thrilled so far. Small class size, great staff, very warm place. |
We also love Concord St. Andrews. It's a co-op so inexpensive and I find the teachers and staff incredibly warm, which was not the case at my daughter's previous school. I also like that many of the teachers have been there forever, some over 20 years including the director. |
My husbands last ex had a little girl that, according to him, basically ran wild until they sent her to Wesley Nursery School. He absolutely raves about the wonders they worked with her.
The only reason we're looking at any other preschools is because reading these boards has me panicked about the whole process and feeling like I'm trying to get my poor son into the Ivy League. |
On the last post, we are hearing about this kind of pressure from moms with 2 and 3 year old espeically. If you are looking for a great program without this status pressure, please visit our program at Chevy Chase Reggio. My program uses the Reggio-Emilia approach. We have openings for 2 and 3 year olds and open houses this month. Please look at www.chevychasereggio.com for more information or call me.

We were at Wesley for a year, and thought it was ok but I wouldn't rave about it (but then my kid was more likely to be the bitee than the biter). |
Really? Was there anything in particular you didnt like about it? Or was it just a case of them doing everything ok but you still getting an off vibe from them? |
Looking back, there were things I liked about it, but it might not have been a good match for my son. Perhaps no program that was just 2 hours 2x a week would have worked well for him at that age, but at the time I hoped they would try to make it work better. |
