Preschools in DC (or CC/close-in Bethesda) offering full-day (or at least til 3:30) for 2 year old

My son is at a preschool that I love, but with him going there 5 days til 3:00 next year I'm considering beginning my daughter elsewhere next year (she'll turn 2 in the summer) to better manage the family balance and eliminate the need for a nanny, work part-time til 2:30, you get the gist. His school would only have her going to school til noon 3 days a week. So I find myself in the same throes of preschool anxiety I found myself in 2 years ago Anyway, my DCUM research has offered me the following potential choices: School for Friends, Franklin Montessori, Westmoreland Children's Center. Any other ideas for full-day (or at least until 3:30) 5 day a week options for a 2 year old?

I should note also that I'm not opposed to something called "daycare"- as long as it's a warm, enriching environment I don't care what it's called...

OP, I am director of Chevy Chase Reggio and we are having an Open House on Saturday, Dec. 13 for new openings. We follow the Reggio-Emilia approach for 2-5 year olds. We are right on Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase near Bradley Lane. For more information, visit www.chevychasereggio.com or give me a call, 301-951-1885.

Is this a daycare or a preschool?

To the PP, CCR is a learning center for children from the ages of 2 to 5 years old. We are a preschool, however, if you have a 2 year old, you may think of it as a daycare with real educational instruction. If your child is 4+, the depth of instruction is greater to prepare the child for entering kindergaten. From what I can tell, almost all of the preschools in this area call themselves preschools even when they have children at age 2. From my experience, the term daycare seems to be a shared babysitting service. In many cases, the operator is simply watching your child without any program to teach them.

In our case, Chevy Chase Reggio is a preschool that uses the established Reggio-Emilia approach for teaching children 5 years and younger. Please visit www.ChevyChaseReggio.com or look at the wikipedia entry to learn more about Reggio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggio_Emilia_approach.

The DCJCC at 16th and Q. You do not have to be Jewish to send your kid there. Many families are of mixed religious background, and several in each class are not Jewish. It's a very international school. Rolling admissions.
