Uhhhh....two rivers middle school is full. Another would fill up as well |
Well, so much for that. DCPCSB just rejected One World's application. The application had grammar and budget errors.

Seems like a good move on the part of the DCPCSB--seemed like a lot of hype without a lot of follow-through. Have any schools been approved? |
Yes, Lee Montessori and Academy of Hope adult education school. So, only two out of nine. |
Wow, just two. I am glad, though, that the Board is being selective--I hope only programs with real potential are approved. And the Montessori I assume will mean more spots for early childhood ed, which we certainly need. |
Fyi, @dcpcsb is doing a great job summarizing tonight's Board meeting on Twitter. |
To read the threads here on DCUM, "schools with potential" are the ones under the most attack. There is a hardcore, rabid anti-charter contingent here, and they are particularly vitriolic toward "schools with potential" - they cannot tolerate anyone rocking the boat. |
I hope they reapply next year. I read parts of their application a few days ago and liked that their model stresses both academics and the arts (1.5 hours of arts after school 4 days a week) as well as community service. I didn't quite get the part about the feeder elementaries, though. They said the feeders will be: Latin American Montessori Bilingual, Potomac Lighthouse PCS, Two Rivers PCS, Inspired Teaching PCS, Yu Ling, and Washington Latin. I looked online for a school named Yu Ling in DC and didn't find one so I'm going to assume they meant Yu Ying but I thought Yu Ying was feeding into DCI. And doesn't Two Rivers have their own middle school? |
^^ this is why they were rejected. The document reads like it was written by Word Salad. |
