Is there any hope?

No growth shown on ultrasound between 6 weeks and 7 weeks. No heartbeat. Any reason to hold on hope?

What did your doc say? While it may be early-ish for a hb, what would concern me is the lack of any growth. It does not sound terribly promising. I am sorry for not being more positive....

Doc basically told me to get a D&C right away. I, too, was mostly concerned with the no growth. But figured I'd send it out to the DCUM world in case anyone had a miracle story to give me some unwarranted and foolish optimism

If your doctor urged you to get a D&C, that's pretty much curtains. They won't suggest that with a viable pregnancy. I'm very sorry.

I'm so sorry, have been there. Assuming it was a transvaginal, there would most likely be a heartbeat at 7 weeks, and certainly growth from 6. So sorry.

Thanks everyone. That's what I figured.

Been there too. What about any pregnancy symptoms?
I initially felt very nauseous-this would have been pregnancy #4, so I know what it feels like to be pregnant. I felt very pregnant right away and then the symptoms suddenly subsided and then the ultrasound showed no heartbeat at @ 6 weeks. Natural miscarriage followed within a week or two.
Sorry, it's not easy.

I've been there too. I'm very sorry. You don't want to wonder down the road so if you still have doubts get bloodwork or another ultrasound just to be sure.

I would hold off on a D&C. Have them do your HCG numbers 48 hours apart. Are you having any other symptoms? Spotting, bleeding? If the only data they are going off is an ultrasound, I would err on the side of hope, still.

I could tell you anecdotes both ways. Anecdotes aren't important. What's important is certainty. Waiting two days to check your HCG will not change the outcome, but it will give you peace in certainty.

I am so sorry you are going through this.

I'm so sorry. I was in your same position and ended up having a natural miscarriage a few days later.

Thanks again ladies. I did not take the doctor's advice and schedule the D&C right away. I asked for another ultrasound in a week and then the D&C is scheduled right after. So at least I will have the certainty.

OP, I think thats a smart choice and please be sure the ultrasound is a high resolution & transvaginal one. I had a similar situation and held out until 8 weeks. Nothing changed, but I felt sure at least when I had to move on. I am so sorry that you are going through this.

Thanks everyone. The one thing this thread is making me realize is geez, I'm not the only one to ever gone through this Ok I realize that is dumb, obviously I'm not, but sometimes when you're experiencing things like this you feel like you are the only one who has ever suffered such an injustice, you know? It's really helping bring me back to reality to hear such good advice and to hear from those who have been there. It helps to know I'm not alone. Thanks again everyone.
