I am 3dp5dt. I had 9 eggs retrieved, 9 were mature, 7 fertilized. 6 were growing on day 3. I hade 5 perfect 8 cells and 1 10 cell on day3. We waited till day 5 to transfer, 1 3bb and 1 early blast, none of the others were blasts yet. We just got the call today from shady grove that none of the others made it to freezing ![]() |
I think SG is pretty picky about what they freeze. And yes, I know MANY women who had none to freeze and now have a baby from that very cycle. |
Most clinics have very strict freezing criteria. I don't think this is unusual.
Good luck!! I just had my transfer as well (FET). Beta next Monday. |
Yes, I had none to freeze and was successful. My doctor said that chance, egg quality, sperm quality, and other factors can all impact how well embryos progress from day to day. |
I went with 3-day transfers (I have had two). First was 15 retrieved, 13 mature, 3 fertilized. We did two day3- the last one did not make it to freeze. Got a BFP- but it ended up being an ectopic (which SG did a good job of diagnosing and handling BEFORE it reptured). Second time, Retrieved 9, 7 mature, 3 fertilized (with ICSI). We ended up implanting all three (I am older and it was a 3-day transfer). None left to freeze- but I did get my BFP (Initially with twins - eventually became a singleton- it was a vanishing twin). The fact that you had them make it to 5-day puts you ahead of where I was! The wait is brutal- but I am pulling for you! Good luck! |
I had embryos to freeze at 5 days (with 2 IVF cycles) but I honestly don't think my frozen ones were as good (maybe it was the freezing process - who knows).
My frozen cycle didn't work for me. I donated remaining embryos to another couple and they emrbyos didn't work for the other woman either. I did get pregnant with twins on my second fresh cycle. I have a friend who took 3 IVF cycles to get pregnant and she never had any to freeze (despite being a really good responder, being 28 or 29 years old, etc.) |
My protocol was conservative because we were a MFI case, but I responded well...and still had none to freeze.
Having ones to freeze isn't that common. Day 5 options are great - we transferred 2 day-5s and I'm 16W and change pregnant. Good luck, OP - keep us updated! |
OP here...thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. Good luck 13:37! |
Me |
SG told us that only 40% of SUCCESSFUL cycles have any blasts left to freeze. They are really picky about what they will freeze.
We had two + cycles--the first we had one blast to freeze, the second we had nothing left. |
I had 5 eggs fertilize, transferred 2 on day 3. I was told the others "looked good" but still did not make it to day 5 for freezing. I was devestated. BUT I did get a BFP and now have a four month old DD. (I was at Columbia Fertility) |
I was told at SG that typically only 1/3 of couples end up with something to freeze. My cycles have been hit or miss. |
Ditto on the SG being very picky about what to freeze. I transferred 1 (by my choice) on Day 5 and was successful.
Good luck! |
Any news, OP? Fingers crossed for you! |
OP here. My beta is not until Thursday but I cheated and POAS yesterday and got a bfp. I am excited and worried at the same time because I know the risk of early losses. Hopefully it's a sticky baby or babies. |
