Dutch Oven: Plain cast iron vs. Enameled?

Anonymous
While I am an avid cook, I've never owned a Dutch oven and have finally decided to get one. After doing some research, I can't decide between the plain cast iron and the enameled version. Any advice? TIA!

My DH makes one using just our bed blankets.

LOL.

In term of cooking equipment, I REALLY love my Lodge enameled cast iron Dutch oven. Love, love, love. And it's only about $50 on Amazon. Actually, not even anymore-- http://www.amazon.com/Lodge-Color-EC6D43-Enameled-6-Quart/dp/B000N501BK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1368380973&sr=8-2&keywords=lodge+enameled+cast+iron When I bought it initially (years ago), I read the reviews- and some people said they also owned Le Creuset and couldn't tell the difference.

I have the Le Creuset cast iron dutch oven - it's great - had it for years and it's perfect for everything!

Enameled all the way, I've got one that's comparable to Le Creuset, and use it for everything, too, stovetop and oven. I just got it last year, and can't believe I haven't had one forever!

Go with enamled, and soon you will be finding yourself replacing all of your skillets, ect.

Love enameled. I have both and prefer the easy care of enamel.
