I drank a lot of Pellegrino with lime. Lay off the juice b/c it is full of sugar and calories you don't need. If you want juice, mix a little with sparkling water for a juice cocktail and eat a lot of fruit instead. |
Tap water, coffee, juice occasionally. You might also try those "Clear Splash" type carbonated flavored water drinks if you want an alternative to soda. |
I don't like anthing other than water or hot green tea (decaf or caf). I never drink pop, as my family calls it, but would crave a Sprite or something orange here or there when pregnant. Also, sweet tea mixed with a splash of lemonade was something I craved often. |
If I drink water, it has to be from my fridge dispenser. No ice, because it has a funny taste to me. But actually water makes me feel queasy so I have to make myself drink it. Coke is good for nausea and upset stomach I find so I usually have one can a day- the caffeine helps too. Sometimes I crave coffee but the scent puts me off so I bought those instant flavored ones where you just add hot water- International something or other? One cup of that every couple days. And I do swig juice- first lemonade, then apple, now most recently I love orange. Was never big on juice at all before. |
Sounds like you need a Brita filter or something to help with the taste of tap water. You have to drink a lot of water over the course of a pregnancy!
Try it with a wedge of lemon or lime, ice cold. Sparkling water tastes good too, but it can exacerbate heartburn. |
At home, I drink brita filtered water. At work, we have a water cooler. I don't mind tap water - but I'm in DC, so not sure if some people's tap water is worse than others.
I went to college in Pittsburgh which has TERRIBLE tap water! So I hear you on not being able to drink it. Try a soda stream if you like soda. It doesn't need electricity, so you can have it anywhere - work or home. The bottles that come with it are BPA free. |
Coffee, regular caf and decaf; juice; water; sparkling water; milk; diet Coke. Really, haven't changed much except have cut out alcohol entirely, caffeine significantly (although not totally - used to be a four-cup-a-dayer), and artificial sweetener slightly, although not a whole lot. |
I make a container of Chrystal light lemonade and squeeze 2-3 oranges in it for the pulp and extra calcium and fiber. It's delish! |
I don't like the taste of our tap water, either (Fairfax County) but once it's filtered, it tastes fine by me. I wouldn't worry about buying bottled water - the issue with plastic (other than BPA) is if it's heated and in there for a long time. Bottled water has a short shelf life in my house and we're not heating it up, so I don't worry. But I have a stainless steel Kleen Kanteen that I fill up every day with filtered water from home to bring to work. If I get sick of drinking plain water - I add a wedge of lime, lemon, orange, or slice of cucumber. I find crystal light and the other powders to be a little sweet for my taste. |
All I ever drank was unsweetened iced tea with lemon. Boring but better than water. |
Definitely get a brita filter, that should resolve any issues you have with the taste. As we are getting into the warmer weather soon I'd also recommend herbal iced tea if you want to flavor the water a little bit. |
Water and lemonade. I would make my own but instead of sugar used agave. I also drank a lot of hot water with lemon and honey. |
Me too. You have to make some choice unless you are one of those people who can just drink water (which I am not, although I drank a ton of water too.) My thinking was that ice tea has a little bit of caffeine, but it was the only caffeinated drink that I drank and it was better than soda with all the chemicals or juice with all the sugar. At least tea is a product that comes from nature and you drink it without much processing. If you can't tolerate any caffeine, you can make your own with decaf tea. |
OP - I use a brita filter at home and my office has a filtered water cooler that I use during the day. I also enjoy sparkling water - we make our own at home with an Isi Twist n Sparkle, which has been discontinued, but you could do the same thing with a SodaStream. Sometimes I add some lemon or lime juice to the sparkling water to add taste. Sometimes, I sparkle up orange or another juice diluted with water. |
Oh, and ginger ale. I drink ginger ale if we're out to dinner or for drinks with friends. |
