My beta didn't double. Is there hope?

I went in a little over 6 weeks and the U/S showed an empty sac, so the doc suggested a blood test to check my hormone levels, and then I went back the next day for a 2nd test (assume this is betas they are checking?). She called the next day to say the numbers had not risen as they should have, and was pretty dismal sounding. This was on a Friday. She suggested I come in on Monday to check again. Over the weekend I prepared my list of questions about miscarriage and went in Monday to talk about that. She said "let's just check with an U/S again" and imagine both of our surprise when we saw a flickering heartbeat (who is now 2-1/2 years old). So yes, I think there is hope. Good luck to you!

Congrats, that's wonderful.
Just as it's important to not give false hope, however, it's important to not make false comparisons. The situation you are describing is really different than OP's - she doesn't have the same dismally rising betas as it sounds like you did; furthermore, it is not super common to experience what you and the next poster did.

Right - OP's situation is better! And pp's ended up well! Honestly, why are people on this thread determined to convince OP that the outcome will be bad?

I don't get it.

I think it's one person who has some issue with providing reassurance/support from information that is not identical to the OP's case. I'm not sure why, either, since it's not about her. She seems not to get that.

OMG, STFU weird thread police lady! These situations are very relevant and you aren't the chief of this thread. OP, let us know how things go.

I'm the person you are quoting- I hadn't contributed at all prior to this post except to suggest that 1) it sounded like the betas were good and 2) did she know about betabase. I think the weird police lady is someone else. I am my own weird person.

I guess I wrote this poorly; my point was not that the OP's was a bad situation, but that the situation the PP described WAS (even though it turned out okay). In other words, the OP's situation is in a completely different - and way better - category than the PP's. I wrote b/c if I were the OP and nervous, and people wrote in about their own dismal situations, it would make me wonder if my chances of resolution were really low, too (even though the PP's happened to turned out fine).

Anyway, in case I'm unclear- I think it's a totally fine/great situation, OP, and I wouldn't compare/be concerned you are in danger based on betas whatsoever.

Hi Everyone,

I got my 3rd beta back today and ... it more than doubled since my beta on Wednesday. SO relieved, though I also realize that I've still got a long road ahead. My ultrasound is schedule for the end of next week. Anyways, wanted to give an update and also to say thank you for all of the kind words and encouragement - truly very heartening and reassuring.

Hi OP, I'm so glad to hear your update. I don't know about you, but I spent a looooong time in my first pregnancy fighting against getting my hopes up too soon. I almost didn't even feel officially "pregnant" until halfway through. But you know what, you are PREGNANT! Everyone is different, but my advice is take care that you let yourself grin from ear to ear and say "hot damn, I'm pregnant!" and do a little dance if you want to, without necessarily forcing yourself to swallow the "but of course there are risks" pill. (I'm totally not saying you're doing that - just saying this based on what I did and what I think is natural to do). Anyway, congrats and I am so glad to hear you're numbers are doing what they are supposed to. Hope to see you around on these boards.

Thanks, PP. I totally hear what you're saying and agree that there's a part of me that's scared to just enjoy this. But I'm am over the moon to be pregnant and am thrilled - it's a true dream come true.

Yay! So happy for you! I am 8w and it really does get a little easier but the anxiety is still there. Good luck!!!

My numbers also started off strong and then failed to double. I had a scan at 7-8 weeks that showed a vanishing twin explaining the crazy numbers. I am now 4 months pregnant with a single pregnancy. Good luck!

Hi OP. I was wondering if you are still here and if you have an update on what happened after beta #3.

I had my first beta 16dpo (so 11dp5dt) and after two chemical pregnancies (with very low first betas) was very happy with the 1466.

But two days later my beta was only 2431 (so doubling just shy of every 66 hours).

This was last Thursday and I'm now waiting for an ultrasound tomorrow. They didn't have me come in over the weekend for a repeat test.

I know doubling times slow as betas rise but I thought this was after 6 weeks and might not be the case if the high value is in the early stages. So, I'm nervous.

Anyway, would love to hear how you're doing.
