I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have had pain on the right side of my face under my cheekbone since yesterday. It travels from the teeth to up under the eye socket. Last night it was worse while lying down. I have never had a sinus infection and don't have allergies but I am coming off the heels of a cough/cold. The cough is nearly gone but I still have some residual congestion. Have others have this? Does this sound like a sinus infection or something else? |
I just went through this and it was miserable. I never had a sinus infection either until a got a nasty cold this pregnancy that turned into one. Call your OB - if it bad, they can give you safe antibiotics to fix you up in a few days. I stupidly waited for 2 miserable weeks. |
I hate to be put on antibiotics. What did they put you on? How long did you have the pain in your face? |
I went through this about a month ago. Ended up on two rounds of antibiotics and nasal spray which I confirmed with my OB were fine before taking. Their justification was "at this point all the parts are there they are just growing". I was in the 2nd trimester at the time.
I had face pain/headache for about a week. Extra strength tylenol did nothing so I stopped taking it. Showering/steam and face massage helped. Also try a humidifier. the first antbiotic didn't kick it completely (or I got something else). the Z-pack worked the second time. |
Thanks for the info/feedback. |
Sounds like sinuses. You've already got extra mucus because of pregnancy, so even a bad cold can really do a number on your sinuses. Try a neti pot (2x a day at least) and hot showers with the bathroom door closed to really steam things up. |
