I just want to cry. I certainly have not been restricting my eating but also haven't gone crazy either. I still go to the gym 3x a week. I gained 60 with #1 but I also had pre-eclampsia so I put on a lot of water weight. With #2, I only gained 35. I hate feeling like I have no control over my body. |
Sorry OP. That sounds rough. But other than focusing on being healthy moving forward, there's not much you can do at this point. Keep in mind that you're not going to be pregnant much longer and that, in the grand scheme of things, a few extra pounds isn't really all that big of a deal. Also, you're going to have a wonderful baby to love pretty soon! Good luck! |
I feel your pain. I had to cut out sugar from diet completely and it has really helped slow my weight gain (still eating fruit but no juices or other sweets). Stepping on the scale every few days helps too. Try not to get too down about it! |
People's bodies react differently to pregnancy hormones. Even people doing the same things in terms of diet and exercise will have different outcomes. I gained almost no weight and I know that was not because I was some kind of health goddess. It was just luck of the draw. Remind yourself that you are more than half done with this pregnancy and you are staying in good shape. You will likely have a healthy baby and you can deal with your weight issues more easily once you are hormone free. |
Agree with PPs. Some people just gain more, and having previous kids affects how much you gain (sometimes more, sometimes less). FWIW, I have gained 50 and 55 pounds with DC1 and DC2 and have currently gained over 20-30 pounds (don't know prepregnancy weight exactly) with DC3 at 25 weeks. For the first 2, I lost all the weight in 3 months PP. I'm hoping it happens again. |
My non-medical prescription: Try to cut down on salt intake and cut out juices and sweets. Try to eat lots of protein and drink lots and lots of water. Take lots of walks if you can. Relax. Try to get enough sleep. Enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can. |
Could you be experiencing pre-eclampsia again? |
I don't drink.juice, just water, but I can definitely cut down the sweets. Part of it is that I have an eating disorder and when I am not pregnant, I have a tendency to either eat everything or not at all. I am terrible at only eating things that are good for me, do if I can't have what I want, I'd rather not eat at all, which is always a bad thing but particularly bad when I am pregnant. All I want is carbs, but my portions have been pretty good, although I need to up my veggie intake.
It's also weird bc even though my belly is enormous, I have not put on weight in my face or upper body, where I gained last time. My old maternity clothes are still big on me. I was really surprised by the number on the scale. |
What does your doctor say? |
Given that you have an eating disorder, how are you managing that? Many pregnant women feel frustrated with how out of control their body feels during that time, but given your history, it might be helpful to get some professional guidance, if you're not already. Take care. |
Who said anything about an eating disorder? Go away. |
Uh, 14:47 |
Yeah, 14:47, who by the rest of the message also sounds like the OP. Read more carefully, please, before you bash me. Eating disorders are extraordinarily complex to treat, and pregnancy only complicates that picture. |
