Here is a starter list for due dates:
LJ - Oct 3/10 Sepi - Oct 8 Poppy - Oct 20 We can add on! Sepi - My due date has been given as either 10/3 or 10/10, so we are definitely in the same window. I read up a bunch on gestational diabetes the other day and terrified myself. I would like to be proactive and try to exercise more and eat less sugar in the coming weeks to minimize my chances before the glucose test, but it is hard! I hate trying to track everything I eat but I know I should be doing better in the nutrition department. Funny - I am a vegetarian too! I haven't had too much in the way of cravings, but that may change as the nausea subsides. I am almost back up to my original weight, given a pound or two fluctuation each day. That means I lost about eight pounds and then gained it back during pregnancy - yikes! Hope that I don't gain too much more before week 20. I have 2.5 weeks until then so hoping that I stay close to my starting weight in these next two weeks. I am a teacher so I am realllllly counting down the next 6.5 weeks until summer. I am not working over the summer so it is the start of a very long break for me. So excited for it! Hope you are all doing well. |
Raspberry here, also Oct 8! Sepi & LJ, I was laughing at your latest updates because that is exactly me right now! I am hungry all. the. time. and am trying to keep the snacking at a reasonable, nutritious level. I've also just started investigating maternity clothes. I'm tired of feeling like a sausage stuffed into my regular jeans, and for some reason the belly band just isn't working for me. I got a cute pair of capris from the loft sale last week, that I can tell will be getting a lot of wear time over the next few months! Hope everyone's weekend is going well! |

I love this idea! I've added myself on at the bottom. I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks bc I haven't had much to share, but it's nice hearing how you all are doing!
I have gained about 9 lbs, which is A LOT . . . Sepi and Raspberry, I see you are where I am on due dates . . . what is your weight gain pattern like at this point? TIA! Wavy LJ - Oct 3 -10 Sepi - Oct 8 Raspberry Oct 8 Wavy - Oct 8 Poppy - Oct 20 Pumpkin - Oct 31 |
LJ - Oct 3 -10
Sepi - Oct 8 Raspberry Oct 8 Poppy - Oct 20 Pumpkin - Oct 31 Peanut - Oct 21 So I've been a little worried (surprise surprise =) about my weight gain. I had little to no morning sickness at all during my first trimester yet I've barely gained one pound (I'm at 15 weeks today). At one point, I did actually gain up to 4 lbs (at around 10 weeks) but at my 12 week visit, I had only gained 2 lbs and today, I'm back down to 1 lb. I'm eating normally, if not more than before so I'm not sure what's going on. I think I also need a google intervention. I need to stop googling about missed miscarriages =/ I was suppse to buy a doppler from this lady on craiglist this past weekend to ease my worries but on my way to pick it up, she e-mailed saying she can't find it anymore. My 16 week appt is next Wednesday. It can't come soon enough! |
^^ that was Peanut |
Step away from google! I have the same exact problem though, so I understand. It's so not helpful though.
I have loved my doppler - and it was only $30 so it is pretty reasonable http://www.amazon.com/Jumper-Prenatal-Heart-Listener-Detector-/dp/B00AF2ZT0E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367250214&sr=8-1&keywords=doppler Crazy that we have three due dates that are the same! |
Peanut - the doppler is only MODERATELY helpful. Some days I can find a HB right away, others I can't and give up. I try to limit myself to 10-15 minutes because I'm sure prolonged exposure isn't the best. I have the sonoline B - I didn't find a HB last night, for example (though I think I can hear movement pretty well). If you'd like to borrow mine to see if you like it, I'm going out of town and happy to lend it.
I don't necessarily think it calms your nerves - if you are the type to worry that you can't find a HB right away, it could do more harm than good. I'm due 25 October. Anyone feel movement yet? I started having some pulling/cramps....and it's either because of exercise of uterine stretching. I don't know what the uterine stretching feels like...but I don't think it's movement because I'd feel "quickening" first, right? These are more like pulling jabs. |
I love the due date list!
Peanut, since we're almost due date twins, I'll chime in and say I'm up five pounds so far--all gained in the last week! Awesome. I was up three pounds at 12 weeks, then back down to pre-pregnancy weight at 14 weeks, and then up five yesterday. I'm chalking it up to the awesome Italian dinner my husband and I had Saturday night, rather than some sort of worrisome trend. ;^) But, yeah, that was not what I wanted to see. I think weight can be all over the map early on, between hormones and water retention, etc. etc., so unless you've really lost a lot, I wouldn't worry. Easier said than done, I know. And yes, step away from the Google, as 11:45 said! Also much easier said than done. Raspberry--and anyone else looking for maternity clothes--I got two pair of pants from the Gap that I absolutely adore: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6026&vid=1&pid=426238012 I wore the pink ones on Friday to work, and got a ton of compliments. I can still fit into my low-rise jeans, but these are just too cute not to wear, and also much more comfortable. I'm starting to get a little belly, but mostly at night after dinner. Otherwise, I don't look much different. I also got these skinny jeggings (though they're really just very stretchy jeans) from Old Navy, and love them: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5852&vid=1&pid=545333002 Will probably buy in another color, too. Bonus about ON/Gap: all the 30% off sales (35% off today!). I pick out what I want and then wait until they go on sale. I've also checked out Wiggle Room's collection (consignment kids and maternity store in Bethesda), but haven't been hugely impressed so far. I'm looking mostly at tops, though, and it's a lot of stuff from Motherhood. The dresses and work clothes seem to be a bit better. Back to work! -Poppy |
Peanut here!
Jindc, thank you for that sweet offer! I actually just caved an ordered the doppler from amazon (from the link two posts before this) literally 5 minutes ago. I haven't felt any movement yet. I thought I was feeling flutters earlier on (before 12 weeks) though. But now, nothing. I also had some stretching feeling around 12 weeks and have "popped" out a bit. I have a little bump and my belly is hard. It's kind of weird but cool at the same time. For moms with kids, when did you start feeling movement? |
Poppy - I so wish the black ones were available in my size. I've been looking for black cropped maternity pants that I can wear to work. |
Real movement? Not til 20 weeks with my first. This time I'm on #2, 12 weeks along, and nothing yet. The first time around I thought I had felt movement as early as 12 or 13 weeks but what I really was feeling was just increased blood flow pumping through my abdomen- it creates an odd "pulse like" feeling. That's not movement though. You'll know movement when you feel it- it's like someone tickling you from the inside at first, before it graduates to kicks and thumps. |
..I HAVE heard a kick/movement via doppler. I've kept the doppler on the spot where I can hear the HB and BOOM then HB. I can't feel anything, but I heard it. And I think I've heard the baby move with the doppler - it's like a swoosh (that isn't an artery or the woosh of the placenta), it's more like....the sound a cartoon ghost makes! if that makes sense! |
Check back often; the first time I looked, they didn't have my size, either--a few days or a week later, they did. It's worth checking! As for movement, I didn't feel it with my first until 20 weeks or so, not consistently until 22 weeks. I had an anterior placenta (and do again, apparently), so that can muffle the early movements. |
LJ - Oct 3 - 10
Sepi - Oct 8 Raspberry Oct 8 Poppy - Oct 20 Peanut - Oct 21 JinDC - Oct 25 Pumpkin - Oct 31 Guess who is OCD and keeps putting them in chronological order? Pumpkin! ![]() So, with my first, I felt movement around 15.5 weeks, which is on the early side, especially for a FTM. But there is apparently a huge range. I would describe the feeling as being like cupping a small goldfish in your hand. It's a fluttering / flopping feeling, like rapid movement in a confined space. Less like bubbles associated with gas, and more like a fluttery, rapid tapping from the inside out. That said, it is not completely unlike gas feelings, so at first you can definitely be mistaken. I wasn't absolutely sure it was baby I was feeling last time (though I was pretty convinced it was) until i felt the fluttering during an u/s and I could feel in my tummy what baby was doing on the screen. I was in my OB's office and was like "OMG, i totally felt that!" and my OB laughed and said "it's not unheard of to feel baby this early, but it's early, but there was definitely a big movement there." I will say there have been a few times that I feel like I MIGHT have felt baby. But, when we got that ultrasound, baby was moving like bananas and I felt exactly nothing, so maybe not! The early days can be kind of uncertain, but you eventually just "know" what you are feeling is the baby. It's really, really, really, really, really, really, really awesome. What is less awesome: when baby delivers those cute little kicks square to your cervix. I was pretty sure my first was trying to kick his way out starting around 18 weeks. ![]() |
