October Due Dates: Please Join us!

Hi LJ, pumpkin checking in to say I was thinking about you all day. Sure wish you could have had your OB appointment today!

Poppy, I can't even imagine what my weight gain is going to be. I'm so constipated right now, even with as much fiber as I can hack - I think that has to be part of it but I seriously look four months pregnant right now. AND I made the mistake of reading the hoover / ice cream thread and I want it ALL! Everything they talked about.

LJ here - thanks for the support everyone.

I am a teacher and had to return from spring break today - it was hard!

The bleeding seems to have finally stopped - hopefully for good. Still no cramping and still feeling normal pregnancy symptoms (breast tenderness, general digestive malaise, loss of appetite, sensitive smell, nausea and an absolute inability to sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time) so I am hoping that tomorrows appointment is reassuring. Will be holding my breath when they do the sonogram!

I feel like I was utterly unprepared for how nerve wracking this would all be! Fingers crossed for a good appointment tomorrow...

LJ here.

So everything checked out at the appointment today. I wasn't sure what all my OB would do but she mainly just checked the babies heartbeat (still going strong), looked over the bloodwork and ultrasound information from the ER and then did a cervix check and a check for any active bleeding. No signs of current bleeding and she said the cervix is in good shape and closed. The only other thing is that she had me do a urine sample to check for a UTI, as my WBC counts were high. But other than that, everything looks good. She said to just take it easy this week and that it is reassuring that everything is checking out normally.

So hopefully that is an isolated incident and nothing to worry about. I think my husband has decided to 100% turn off the worry now. I can turn off about 90% of the worry now but still have a tiny bit left. Not sure I can get rid of that!

Thanks again for all of the support.

LJ, so glad you updated with good news. That all sounds really scary! I hope it didn't completely wreck your vacation! Glad it's all okay.

Glad to hear things worked out at the doctor. We're taught to be so scared of any bleeding but I think it's more common than we think. Based on what I've read, if they see the heartbeat during/after bleeding all should be fine and it sounds like that is the case with you.

So glad things are ok - I'm not convinced that 10% of worry ever goes away. There's always something to worry about.

I had the NT scan today and the baby would NOT cooperate - hands in front of face, rolling over...so, no nasal bone measurement. The ultrasound tech said I should get it redone when I come back next week (I have an OB appointment) but Lisa (genetics lady) didn't really seem to support that idea so I have no idea. But it was moving, saw/heard HB again and thought it was so freaky to see all that movement!

I'm so glad to hear the appointment went well, LJ. Thanks for the update.

I think jindc is totally right that you can't eliminate 100% of the worry (at least, I can't, either). For me, that's been one of the biggest changes accompanying parenthood: there's always a little worry at the back of my mind. I feel like it's just part of the deal.

jindc, isn't the movement crazy! I remember seeing the baby rolling around at the NT scan with my first pregnancy, and it was just wild. Bummer about the nasal bone, but hopefully can get it redone, as you said. I don't know that they placed a lot of weight on that with mine the first time, but I'm sure places differ. Ours is this Friday; I did the bloodwork last week so we can get the results right away. Excited and nervous all at once!

Hope you're all well and staying cool. I took my daughter for a run this morning, and was pretty wiped out at the end. It still felt good to get out there, and now we can lay low in the AC. :^)

Poppy

ps--Pumpkin, thanks for the reassurance/commiseration about the weight gain. It is what it is, and it's still so early. All the discussion of ice cream on that thread sounded most appealing to me--I even went to the Talenti website and looked up all the gelato flavors. Ha!

...Poppy - when I want a "treat" like gelato or ice cream (even though I'm a gourmet ice cream maker....I've had to retire that hobby for a while!) I just go get it from a shop - one scoop. I figure I'm walking there, it's portion control, and i'm outside.
I live near Pitango (not nearly as fun as when I lived near Dolcezza...) so it helps get me over the "I need ice cream" hump! I also do 1/2 gelato and 1/2 sorbet so it's not nearly as bad as it could be

head's up, just got this email from B.Fit since some people mentioned being interested in barre:

B.Fit is so excited to offer its first pre- and post-natal class, tailored exclusively to new moms and moms-to-be. The new class is offered Sundays at noon, and will be taught by our own Jenna Parsons. If you're pregnant, or know someone who is pregnant and would like to maintain her fitness regimen, please join us beginning this Sun., April 14. Please make sure you are cleared by your doctor to exercise. We highly recommend taking the pre-natal class before you join regular barre classes so that you are familiar with all of the modifications for your stage of pregnancy.

Hi, New to this site. I'm one of the dads actually. So, wife is pregnant with twins. Due date is Oct 22, but who knows...with twins. Just had a good 12-week checkup yesterday. Amazing to see TWO of them in there, they were moving around. We have a almost-6 year-old daughter as well.

So, with twins, you go to the "high risk" OB. We're getting checkups monthly or more frequently, plus a fetal heart echo coming up too.

Hi guys! JinDc, i'm so glad to hear you got to see the little peanut moving around! but it's a bummer you weren't able to do the NT measurements. no worries; if you have another, it's basically and extra 'free' sonogram, right? look at the bright side - you get more 'time' with the baby!

LJ, so happy to hear everything is okay. i was so scared to read that there was a substantive concern, and am so grateful that you and baby are safe!

Poppy and those discussing weight gain: i'm over 13 weeks now and have clocking in at +5lbs. my OB said that women tend to carry the same weight gain pattern in subsequent pregnancies, which has me wondering whether it's even worth all the effort to "do things differently" this time around! sigh!!!

Re: BFIT: i'm registered to attend the 1200 prenatal class on sunday with my other pg friend! we are both so excited! it will be nice "meet" others of you there if you are attending as well!

JinDC: do you work at Bfit? Or maybe you're a regular there? i've been a fan of the studio for ages! worked out with them religiously to get fit for my wedding in '09! since then, my body's kind of fallen to shit with DC1 and other things going on. hoping to get that hard body back post-DC2!

I definitely DONT work there - those girls are all so svelt and perfect! I will NOT be attending this week OR next week (next week, we go home to "share our news" with family besides my mom). I'm doing prenatal yoga on saturday and I don't want to overdo it during the weekend, so I'm picking yoga this week. But I will definitely attend - probably on the 28th if all is well.
Report back as to how it is - I just like the space, always found it relaxing even though it kicks your butt.

re: the scan...I'm not sure they'll give me another one. I have to figure it out, they were vague. It was weird.

Welcome, afield!! Congrats on the twinsies!
