Weaning off progesterone should definitely not make you sick. I didn't even start weaning until I started 11 weeks. |
Hey Pumpkin! Wavy here. I'm about 13 weeks now, and my stomach was def ballooney at 10 weeks (with my 2nd now). I was very surprised! It was half bloating and half uterus getting bigger. After entering the 2nd tri, I broke out the bella bands and even have worn a pair of work maternity pants with the demi panel (they were heavenly!). . . maternity pants still are a bit big for me (i'm not a hippy person, and so while I'm still earlier in the pregnancy there is some extra material there), so I've been wearing bella bands and non-maternity dresses. Dresses are my new best friend! Easy to look polished in them, and some can be very forgiving! |
Hey, pumkpin here. Send me an email - famst7@gmail.com and I'll give you my phone number, name, etc. Especially if you're on your own. I do want to say that with my last pregnancy, I only actually threw up once or twice and it was definitely toward the end of my morning sickness period, not the beginning. Taking prenatals on an empty stomach or at a different time can definitely, DEFINITELY cause that. But, at the same time, I'm relieved you're going to the doc just to make sure it's not something weird like kidney or spleen infection, etc. I'll watch to see an update. And I hope you'll email me and I'l give you my real info.

Wavy, yes, dresses! I can't wait for dresses and weather warm enough to wear them with bear legs! My regular pants still fit but last night I busted out some maternity sweats from last go-round and they were like a dream indeed. ![]() ![]() I've got some work travel (to a colder place) in about one month (I'll be 13.5 weeks) for a week long convention in which I normally wear combinations of suits and business casual. That should be fun! I'm willing to buy some maternity stuff beforehand (most of my maternity wear from last time around is either summer or, sadly, won't fit this time) and thinking maybe ann taylor or boden? But it'll definitely be big. Bella band will work but then I have to be untucked with suits. I might have to shop. ![]() |

Jin, sepi here. Just stay calm and have faith. i'll be thinking of you! |
jindc, I hope the appointment is going well! I'm really sorry to hear about the crying at work, that's just the pits on top of everything else. :^( Hang in there.
I think folks are right that there could be multiple causes to the throwing up. I've heard that progesterone--which you still have more of, even though you're not taking it orally--can relax the esophageal muscles, so it makes sense that a bout of coughing could bring on vomiting. During my first pregnancy, I once threw up my entire dinner after accidentally gagging myself with my toothbrush. I'll be thinking of you and hoping you get reassuring news at the appointment. I sadly won't be able to make the barre class this weekend; my husband will have the car all day, plus I need to use up the rest of my yoga pass that I bought before I was preg before signing up for new classes. Must. Save. Money. (ugh) But, I'd love to all meet up sometime when folks are past the first tri and feeling better! Or even before--we can sit around and eat Saltines together. ;^) Pumpkin, I love Boden, and drool over Boden maternity, but it's a bit spendy for me. Belly Dance Maternity (all one word for their website) has some terrific things, and on sale or clearance they're not too bad. I've been surprised that I haven't gotten puffy yet (almost 12 weeks) since it hasn't been that long since I was pregnant. But, I have a crazy long torso, so lots of room for things to stay tucked in. We'll see how long that lasts. jindc, keep us all posted. Take good care. Poppy |
So, everything is fine. I saw Dr Smith at GW (lovely woman). she said it COULD be round ligament type stretching, even if it seems early. Also, because of the IVF and not keeping to my regular gym schedule, I am not used to carrying around this much extra weight, which might be making the stretching feel worse.
However, she felt all around, and didn't notice anything off. Ultrasound sound the baby is fine, perfect actually. They did a McDonnell Special to make sure there were no cysts or anything and nope. So, while I still feel generally icky with the cramps and everything, I am much relieved. I'm glad they would see me even if there was a wait. I would have waited all day. Thank you all for the support - if there had been an issue, my mom was ready to buy a train ticket! And my supportive boss is local, so I would have contacted her. But that said, everything is fine. Dr Smith did recommend a maternity support belt - different than the bella band (which I am rocking now) to give my tummy some support. she also said pregnant women get sick all pregnancy. It's not a morning or first trimester thing. She just said it's part of the deal. But I love you all for caring and checking in - I am very thankful for all of you. So is the gummibear! |
So happy to hear everything is OK, and perfect! Everything is so scary, it's nice to get confirmation that nothing is wrong. I think we focus so much on the physical stuff of pregnancy, that sometimes we forget about the mental side, which is just as important. Good for you for following up and getting to the doctor, I'm sure the peace of mind is worth it's weight in gold!
Interloper PS- Poppy and Pumpkin, I broke down and called my OB who was good and reassuring that everything is OK. Who knows why the sudden disappearance in symptoms, but just hearing that I shouldn't be concerned from him, even given my history, was definitely helpful. Thanks again for the encouragement! I hope everyone and a quiet, uneventful, and relaxing Friday and weekend! |
Damnit the 12:35 post was clearly me but I wasn't signed in! lol |
How far long are you Jindc and how soon did your RE release you? |
11 weeks today, I was released at 6 weeks or so after a HB was detected.
And I threw up again today. After having a green smoothie. Only I didn't make it to the bathroom. Made it to the hallway, in my mouth then in the trash can. In front of the stupidist woman in our hallway. Who didn't understand why I didn't want her yelling that I was pregnant all over the place. This just isn't my day. |
Wow that is SUPER early to be released. Most REs at least keep you until 10 weeks. |
sorry you're having a bad day jindc =/ I hope that woman doesn't start telling everyone now
