Whoi is your favorite Doctor and companion(s)? Mine is David Tennant and Catherine Tate! |
Is that Donna? I hate Donna. In fairness, I only saw her first episode, the one-off back in season 3 (I think). I'm just now getting to the season where she's a regular. I think she's harsh and hysterical and unfunny, and in the moment at the end of that episode where he asks her to come along, I thought it was a joke from the writers, so that we would all breathe a sigh of relief when she said no. Very disappointed to see that she gets a whole season now. But maybe she'll turn it around.
I still liked Rose the best. The chemistry she had with both doctors was really enjoyable. I wish they had kept Astrid (? the waitress from the Titanic) around. Kylie Minogue, I think, right? They would've been great together. As for favorite Doctor, I've only seen the two, and adored them both. I think it's really the character more than the actor. I will agree that DT is excellent, but still have much affection for CE. |
Mine too!!! I loved their weird brother/sister love/hate chemistry. Catherine Tate is so funny, and David Tennant is easily the best of the new Doctors. One of the things I really liked about the Doctor and Donna season was that there was no undercurrent of romantic feelings (requited a la Rose and sort of Amy, or unrequited a la Martha). It really freed up the characters and their interactions with each other. |
OP Here-- I also didn't like Donna in the first espisode in which she appeared. I was disappointed when they chose her as the Doctor's new companion, but I was very pleasantly surprised. She gets much better when she's a regular. The relationship that she and the doctor have reminds me a lot of his relationship with Rose, but without the romance. I also got the feeling, though, that there was an unspoken spark and that they wanted to get together.
I loved CE also. I'm liking Matt Smith more this season than in prior seasons. Wasn't crazy about Amy Pond and Rory. Excited to see the new companion this season. Looks like she'll be a good one. |
Wait, WHAT??? (Yes, I know I'm on a thread that will have spoilers for those of us who are a couple seasons behind, and I don't really mind. But... WHAT???) |
My favorite is David Tennant and Martha, followed by Rose. I couldn't stand Donna she was difficult and obnoxious to me but that's JMO.
The current doctor has really grown on me and I adore Amy and Rory. Did this season seem really short to anyone else? |
By short season, do you mean the season that happened back in January of this year? I would agree that it seemed short. |
The season isn't over. That was just the mid-season finale last week. There will be a Christmas special, then the last half of the season sometime early next year. |
I've been watching Season 7 on BBC America on demand. Was the 5th episode the last until the Christman special? |
The last few episodes have been the absolute worst ones since I started watching Dr Who 5 yrs ago.
So over Amy! |
David Tennant for sure, and I have a hard time deciding between Rose and Donna.
Although this season Amy and Rory (especially Rory) really grew on me, and I was pretty disappointed by this past episode. I'm super excited for the new companion though, if they keep her as the same character as she was in the first episode (Osmund or something like that), she's going to be great!! |
I prefer Torchwood and I like Captain Jack and Ianto the best. |
David Tennant and Martha followed by Rose. I'm so sick of Amy! Watching the last Amy episode now as I'm home sick. |
Love the begging, but the last year got weird. |
Definite SPOILERS ahead. Don't read if you don't want to know. ![]() In the fourth season finale, "Journey's End", there is a romantic conclusion for Rose and the Doctor. She ends up getting to live happily ever after, in a parallel universe, with a human clone of the Doctor (and her mother and the parallel universe version of her father). I thought that it was a great ending for them. |
