Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| Hello! I am considering switching my practice in order to deliver my first baby at Alexandria Hospital. I'm 21 weeks and luke warm on my current practice anyway. I'm having a very hard time finding a practice with more than one doctor in it that delivers at Alexandria. Could anyone highly recommend one to me? Thanks! |

Physicians and Midwives--I switched to them from GW at around 20 weeks and was very pleased--there's been a lot written about them in these forums if you search.
http://www.physiciansandmidwives.com/providerinfo.htm They deliver a large percentage of the babies at Alexandria and have a midwife and doctor there at all times. |

I love my docs at Physicians for Women. Dr. Siegel is great. They have 6 docs and are very friendly. I didn't find that the case to be at P&M.
Good luck with your decision. |

| I second Physicians and Midwives. LOVE THEM. |
| Not sure why you prefer a big practice over a solo practioner. I love my solo practioner in Old Town and she delivers at Inova Alexandria. She delivered my first and was great. Dr. Cheryl Ferrier is her name if you want to look her up. She always comes to the phone when I call with questions. I think private practice is much better than the baby factories (that I've been to in the past -- before changing over to Dr. Ferrier.) |
| Dr Ferrier just changed her practice...now a baby factory, she only delivers on Mon-Thurs so if you JUST HAPPEN to have birth on the Friday or the weekend...HELLO STRANGER on call to deliver your baby. We obviously have decided to go elsewhere. |
| third for Physicians and Midwives. They're outstanding. I've gone to them for years and have been very pleased with all of the midwives and doctors there. |

I am at Physicians and Midwives. For the most part, VERY happy. Yesterday I had an interaction that really sucked with a midwife, but will chalk it up to me not being in the mood.
She suggested that perhaps I died in a previous life giving birth, and that is why I "had so many fears." (for the record, I was asking basic questions about putting together a birth plan in case I use one, not really expressing fears.) I wanted to retort, "perhaps it has more to do with never having passed something eight pounds out of my hoo ha, and nothing to do with psychobabble bulls*t." I held my tongue. |

Which mid-wife was that? I've only had a negative experience with one of the midwives there and I love the practice. I also switched at 20 weeks from another practice and have never looked back. I love it there.
Especially when my old practice sent over records of another person with my name (which is not common btw) but obviously didn't check my DOB, SSN and she wasn't even PREGNANT! LOL |

I recommend Physicians for Women in Alexandria. It is a great practice! My sister delivered her son with them and now I am pregnant and also going there. I really like the doctors. They currently have 5 doctors and you need to see all of them during your pregnancy. They also offer childbirth classes.
I used to go to Physicians and Midwives but did not have a good experience with them. Some of the doctors were not very friendly. |
| I recommend physicians for women. It is a very good practice. The website is http://physiciansforwomen.net/ |
| P&M was so popular for a while, interesting that there seems to be a recent shift towards Physicians for Women. |
| Why are we dredging up and responding to old posts? |
